Hi there.
My name is Loz and I'm a new member here, hoping to get some friendly advice.
I'm 52, postmenopausal and started HRT a year and a half ago ( Estradot patch 50 and Utrogestan 200mgs vaginal route continuous with no break ) I'm currently on the same dose since starting. Felt on top of the world initially but things have started to get a bit miserable for the last 3 months or so :(
I'm starting to get mild hot flashes and a few night sweats again, which are waking me up, necessitating the obligatory trip to the loo for a pee. This is not unmanageable but the anxiety is back and I am exhausted constantly. I'm worrying about what to worry about next and everything is a big deal. Every morning starts with aches and pains and a headache and I'm just counting the hours till bedtime.
Calling the GP today to arrange a review but although he's lovely, he's not very knowledgeable about HRT. It was a young GP registrar that prescribed my HRT at the beginning that has since left the practice. So now I just call for repeat prescriptions. I'm in Ireland so no specialist clinics unless private ::)
Do you think my oestrogen needs an increase and I can't seem to see anyone on Utrogestan 200mgs continuous. Should I be on 100mgs? :-\
I want to go to my GP armed with the best info and hoping this is the place to get it :)
Sorry for the book....I do tend to go on a bit ;D

Hi and welcome to the forum.
The continuous dose for Utrogestan is 100mg daily.
If you are getting a return of symptoms then it sounds like you need an increase in oestrogen. You can increase to a 75 or 100 patch.
Keep asking questions. There will always be someone here to help. xxx

Thanks Dotty.
I'll ask for a patch increase to 75 and a decrease of Utrogestan to 100mgs. I have no idea why I was started on 200 and I was wondering if the fatigue and headaches might be down to that.
I'm hoping to get back to where I was as I'm feeling pretty miserable and certainly no fun to be around.
I don't know anyone personally who is taking HRT so it's great to talk to people going through it.
Fingers crossed my GP will help me out ;)

Yes you are right….your symptoms of headache and fatigue could certainly be due to the progesterone x

If you still feel like this on 100mg it might be worth trying a sequi regime for a couple of months. That will tell you if it is the utro causing your fatigue problems. I'm staying on sequi because of this (long cycle) as I don't want to be permanently doped.

Thanks for the reply Sheila99. I had to look up sequi. It was never an option explained to me. I did have a four month fling with Evorel Conti when Estradot went into short supply about a year ago here in Ireland. My goodness, it took me to the brink with anxiety. Very scary stuff. I was in tears with the pharmacist who thought I might be sensitive to norethisterone. When I switched back to Utrogestan, it subsided quick enough.
It's a finnicky business this hormone balancing act. Hoping for the best with the GP nxt week :)
