As title basically. I wanted the gel and utrogestan to work with it being bioidentical. But it doesn’t for me. I’m about to give things a go without hrt, but if that doesn’t work I’m wondering if patches might be worth a try.

Hi Jackie! I’ve been using this regime for a while now and cannot get the balance right! That maybe as I’m peri and have the fluctuations? I’m leaning towards trying a patch but waiting for my specialist appt in December! It works well for a lot of ladies but we are all so different! Good luck !

Hi Jaylow
Yes I found the patches gave a more consistent dose (for me). I tried the gel and although it’s the same stuff in a different format unfortunately I didn’t absorb it x
-
Can I ask how many pumps you were on and what patches you swapped to? Trying to get as much info as possible before my appt!
-
2/3 pumps and evorel patches x
-
Thank you! I’m almost sure the specialist will pop me onto patches ! The gel is so hit and miss for me!
-
Good luck with them and let us know how you get on x

Thank you will do🤞

Evorel and Estradot patches are both good if either are suggested

Hi Jaylow,
I was on gel/utro, but the dosage just kept going up and up. So now Im on estrodot 100 with a top up of 2 pumps. I havent noticed any difference since I switched. The pathces stick well, and are less faff than the gel/ Wish I could get a patch which would be strong enough to ditch the gel altogether! I'm just waiting for my blood results, so am hoping my levels are good.
Good luck

Hi Jaylow - I did well on oestrogel for a number of years, then I got oestrodose and started a downward spiral. It may have coincided with what I now think was a thyroid problem starting, but my levels dropped and then picked up again on patches. I always found the for me the gel had a ‘surge’ a few hours after application whereas patches seemed more steady. Hope that helps.

Thanks. The constant dose of a patch might work better. I was thinking estradot but as far as I know I’d need utrogestan with those, I don’t get on with utro so I think evorel sequi might be the only option available to me. I’ll see how it goes

The only combined patch I could manage was Femseven, the norethisterone in Evorel brought really dark moods, but I’d got on with a contraceptive pill with levo, the same progestin in Femseven. Have you considered a mirena?
-
Jaylow - Oestrogen patches are also bio-identical in the same way as gel but if you don't get on with utro then that's out. Have you tried utro vaginally?
Hurdity x

I have just tried vaginally alternate nights and have gone back to orally continuous! It may have been a coincidence but low mood reared it’s ugly head! I’m peri so obviously it could have been a fluctuation?

I had no side effects from norethisterone in evorel patches but am lethargic on utrogeston.
