Title: Vagifem and Ovestin together?
Post by: aidansrest on October 12, 2021, 04:06:24 PM
Hi

I have been using vagifem internally and Ovestin externally.
Is it possible to alternate?
Use vagifem one night with Ovestin externally and the following night use Ovestin internally with a moisturizer externally?
And so on....or would it be better to stick with Ovestin externally?

Give it a try?   How long have U been using the regime?  What moisturiser would you choose?

I'm sure it would be fine to do that. Sometimes we need to experiment! Are the Vagifem and Ovestin helping?

Yes definitely helping but still extremely dry and shrivelled!
Use hydromol and Epaderm to wash with and Yes VM to moisturise internally

How long have you been using rhe oestrogen products? You probably know that for some it can take quite a long time to see improvement. Are you on systemic HRT as well?

Just started using patches after taking Kliovance orally since June.
Have used vagifem and ovestin (separately) and intermittently since July.
But dryness and bladder issues ongoing, although bladder has calmed down a lot recently.

Just very, very dry.

Get those products up there nightly for at least 4 weeks.  If the bladder nips then I take 'nurofen', 2 capsules 3 times a day to ease the spincter feelings.

A lot of ladies on the private Vaginal Atrophy Facebook support group like Balance Activ Moisture Plus pessaries (in the blue box). Perhaps you could try those at a different time of day from the oestrogen products. Do you belong to the FB group? Plenty of support and ideas there. But keep going with the Vagifem and Ovestin, give it time and it will work!

I use vagifem and estragyn (Canadian product) 5 x a week but I discovered, for myself, that I apply a tiny amount of estrogen cream on the Vagifem application worked wonders along with a small dab externally.  As all have said, it's trial and error.  Good luck.

Yes you can, for myself after 18 months it was a game changer. I’m blessed to have a doctor who lets me do this. This is my current routine, I’ve been doing it all year

Night 1- Vagifem internally and Ovestin externally
Night 2- Ovestin internally and externally
Night 3- Vagifem internally and Ovestin externally
Night 4- nothing
Then repeat, I also use Yes VM every morning and afternoon. And Olive and Bee at night just before Vagifem or Ovestin.

Good luck

Thank you

I tried the Ovestin internally last night, and although I haven't had a bad reaction, I do have a urethral caruncle, which was really throbbing this morning after using it, and I have felt the need to go to the loo more today (although a full bladder each time).

It's my vagifem internally and Ovestin externally night tonight, so I'll see how that goes.

I'll try the YES VM in the morning too.

Thanks

Sue
