Title: 6 weeks on everol conti 50 and things ain't good!
Post by: Knittynora on October 11, 2021, 05:04:25 PM
Hi I reported the other week that I thought I'd turned a corner regarding VA and being on evoril conti 50, the VA seemed much better, but, the last few days I have felt so low, like when I used to get pmt. I get up go to work, then wish it was bedtime, I've got a knot in my stomach and just feel meh!, I usually love sewing and knitting but cannot turn my attention to it. I've put on a couple of pounds even tho I'm trying to stick with ww, I've kept the weight off since goal 3 years ago, I feel like everything is going to pot, I'm trying my best not to burst into tears.
Is it possible the evoril conti is too strong? Just I go on half a patch, or stop it? I also use the estriol cream. I'm at a loss what to do for the best but don't want to feel like this. Getting a docs appt is a nightmare, usually can only get a telephone one, which no matter what time you book it for, she will ring anytime, last time was booked for 1pm and she rang at 4!
Also can't afford to keep paying out for different prescriptions.
Forgot to add, my womb area also feels pmt, not had any bleeds. Neurofen helps.
Any advice welcome.
Sorry to be a pain x

Pps, im also sleeping at the drop of a hat, soon as I sit down after tea I'm dozing, I slept 10 hours Saturday night, which is unheard of, my boobs seem to feel fuller and a bit painful.

Hi,

give it 3 months and if you still feel the same it may be the progesterone element continuously that makes you feel low and tired . You could try sequential regime giving you a monthly bleed to see if it is the progesterone. There are a few you can try.

have a look at the types in the treatments box at the top of the page. You may well have to try a few types to get it right at first. You can by a prepayment certificate which can help with the cost , and I think it is shocking that we have to pay anyway!

Try to do some meditation if you can and vent on here as the ladies are lovely and will support you. Things can settle , but if they dont there are lots of options .

Thankyou peppermint for the advice, I honestly don't think k I can bear to feel like this for 3 months, I feel like a coiled spring, I think I'll try 1/2 a patch from weds just to see if it makes a difference,my body feels 'aware'that something has been administered if that makes sense?  Like a drug I image feels like.
I'll keep down below well oiled x

Hi Knittynora

What pepperminty said!

I agree it sounds like the progestogen taken continuously is making you feel like this - if you are post-menopausal which I presume you are?

As she said you could try Evorel sequi and see if you feel differently when on the oestrogen only part of the patch, if you could cope with having a bleed. Also there can be a few days of "progesterone withdrawal" when you swap to the oestrogen only - just like pmt, but many women feel it is worth it - to avoid that dragging sedated feeling going on for ever...

Thanks Hurdity, I will speak to go about changing. How long can I expect bleeds to go on? Yes you hit the nail on the head with the sedated part.

Also can I ask? Would it be OK to take the patch off? I really can't stand it any longer. I'm due to change patch tomorrow, and I'm gonna do a half. I have just felt like crying the last few days. I'm on a long awaited day out tomorrow and want to try to enjoy it.

Hi Knitty,
I hated the evorel conti patch, they made me feel irritable as hell and very very pmt ish.

I don’t know if it was the synthetic progesterone or what, but I didn’t last a week!

Trouble is, often things do settle and some women report to feel better within time. It’s one of them. Do you persevere, do you not?

Best of luck 😊

Thanks Nas, I'm afraid it's a no from me, I really can't go on with it as is, the only good thing it's done is help with the VA. So, I'll try on half a patch, it was mainly for the VA that I started on them alongside estriol. Hope I'm OK to cut in half, I'll try then speak to doc about sequi.

Have you tried vagifem and Ovestin for VA? It’s not bad stuff.

I echo your thoughts on conti.
I felt so grumpy on them.
