I'm on evorel 75 patches, and utrogestan 200mg daily: my Newson GP advised this double dose to control bleeding ( hysteroscopy and biopsy were fine).
Dr did say that the increased utrogestan could take several months to control the bleeding, but it's been six months now, and I'm only free from bleeding for around a week or so before it starts again; the inconvenience is really getting me down.
I've requested a review with my Newson GP.
Anyone else had this problem, and what might my options be now?

Where are you in your meno journey? Perhaps ask them if a mirena would help, it stops bleeding for most people.

I bled lots on evorel 75 and 100 utrogestan, awful it was.
Like you, hysterocopy etc came back clear.
Your choices would be the Mirena, as Sheila suggested, or a different type of progesterone. Utrogestan isn’t great for controlling bleeding I’m told.
Good luck. It’s a nightmare. I’ve just upped to evorel 100 and can feel the familiar crampy sensations. 🤷♀️

Hi ,
The Newson clinic appear to only recommend utrogestan, but it does not suit everyone. It is quality of life and if it makes you feel better. You may have to see if lowering the estrogen controls the bleeding. Or try taking it on a sequential regime , to have a monthly bleed. The other options as stated are the coil or provera. I hope you find a solution soon. You could ask to be referred to a NHS menopause clinic also, as they may be open to other options.

Newson's were happy to advise that the Mirena coil would be good for my bleeding (caused by hyperplasia and polyps). That's what I'm on now. It seems to be working well. I was on utrogestan before.

Hi Florriepeck,
I’m new to this site but have just posted a similar thread. I increase to Evorel 75 with 100mg Utrogestan but have been having really heavy bleeding, clots and cramps for a week now (since starting it). I can’t have the Mirena coil as have had 2 now and was told that due my Fibroids another would not be possible. Having not had a period since February, this bleeding/period has taken me by surprise and is very heavy….. I don’t know really what to do either? Let me know if you change your progesterone and it helps?
Good luck with the Newson clinic (is that a menopause clinic?)
