Post by: petuniaclark on August 27, 2021, 01:20:54 PM
Hi, this is my 1st post.
prescribed everol 2 pumps & ulstrogen 1 tablet 4 weeks ago now. ( for insomnia, lack of energy & anxiety)  I had the best sleeps I have had in about 10 years & felt brilliant. but for the last 3 nights I have woken up at 330am & thats been it for the night. I am so gutted, I felt like I was beggining to get my life back again. Oh and I am already puttign weight on which is also really annoying me especially as my diet hasn't changed :'( :'(
is it likely to pass? should i contact the Dr again? Any advice please wise women? thank you x

Hi petuniaclark. It can take three months before you know whether an HRT is the right one for you so don't give up. So many different things affect our sleep so it may be something else that's causing you to wake up early. Are you on utrogestan every night?

Hi petuniaclark
It is awful when we get an insomnia relapse and the worrying about it will often make it worse. I am suffering terribly at the moment but try to just accept it, it makes it much more likely then to sleep. Check out a website called insomnia coach. There are some great resources and also a free  course via email.
I am sure you will be back sleeping well soon

thanks both of you. Absolutely nothing has changed in my life except the HRT so it must be that. I will try to stay optimistic a bit longer, thank you 😀😀 xx

How much sleep are you getting? I know you wake at 3.30 but what time do you go to sleep usually? Such a nuisance when you just can't get back to sleep. Good advice from hbhigg

Could it be that your own Estrogen has dropped and you need to increase the dose?

Everyone is quick to suggest more estrogen for every problem, but it’s been my experience that too much estrogen adds to problems too. Weight gain and insomnia (when it’s feeling wired) can be from too much estrogen.
Is it possible that your initial benefit when starting is because you were indeed in need of estrogen, but at this point, it’s too high a dosage for maintenance?

We are all so different in the symptoms we get and how we respond to adding back hormones.  What works for one may not for another.  It is a lot of trial and error.  It has taken me 2 1/2 years of suffering to work out what is happening.

My menopause specialist told me not to be afraid of Estrogen as i am only trying to give back what I have lost and you cannot overdose on it.  It’s about getting well as I have been severely ill both mentally and physically from my fluctuating and low Estrogen.  I know that some symptoms take longer to completely go then again for some they are better quickly.

It is trying to fathom it all out that is so frustrating but we have to believe that we will get there once we find the right type and dose of HRT.
