Title: Pigmentation
Post by: Padine on July 29, 2021, 07:40:09 PM
Hello, I’m so pleased to be able to join MM again. I couldn’t get my password correct but eventually, with a bit of tidying up and sorting through bits of paper, I’m back 🥳

With the beautiful weather, I have come out in large freckles, like age spots, on my eyebrows, cheeks, my face in general but not my neck. Do any girls have a similar condition and managed to get rid? Clinique’s dark spot remover got rid of 2 patches on my neck years ago so I’m thinking of trying it again. Just wanted to maybe get a recommendation first  🤔  🥴

                       Thanks

My family have the ginger gene = freckles all year round which darken in Summer.  Using enough sun screen may help? applied every couple of hours.

If you're on HRT Padine, could it be chloasma (also called melasma)?  I had small patches of this on chin & nose on Evorel Conti a few years ago, but was off HRT for more than a year & they faded.  Since going back on HRT with different types, I've not noticed the darker pigmentation return, but maybe because when it first started I began using high SPF moisturiser/sunblock year round.

HRT to blame! I have faint ginger genes too CLKD and love my adult freckles on my arms but in my sparse eye brows and hairy upper lip?? Wouldn’t care but I’ve used spf for last 30 years - need a higher one.
     Thanks for your help x

Firstly, it's important to protect your skin from further sun damage by using sunscreen daily, even when it's not sunny. This can help prevent the dark spots from worsening.
