Title: Filling applicator with Estriol/Gynest Cream (0.01%)
Post by: Jenna on July 23, 2021, 03:35:36 PM
Hi ladies,

I'd be really grateful to know whether anyone ever has any problems filling the Estriol Cream applicator - I just mean the generic Estriol Cream, not Ovestin.

Thank you!  :)

What type of problem? Is it too warm in this heat wave ?

Has the applicator screwed onto the tube properly? It doesn't always. It sort of locks if it is not screwed properly.

Thank you, Gynaikeios - I think the applicator is screwed on correctly, but I will certainly double-check that next time.

It’s just that with some tubes, the cream is very difficult to squeeze out, so difficult in fact that the tube develops small splits and that can’t be right! Oh and the tube is pierced correctly - it’s all very puzzling!

I wondered whether any other Estriol users had similar problems.

Has anybody returned tubes, etc, because they are faulty? If it was from the  shelf of a chemist shop, and I had paid almost £10 for a tube, I would take it back.
There could be a big batch that are not right?

I've sorted this out now - on the occasions when the cream is difficult to squeeze out, just pull the plunger out a short distance (approx 1cm) and then the cream will fill the applicator as it should.

I have had the same problem some tubes work absolutely fine and others I've struggled with. I've also pulled the plunger out a little bit and again sometimes that works sometimes not.

Oh no, star35 - just when I thought I'd found the solution! How do you get round it when it won't work that way either, and do find you get splits in the tube as well?

I haven't found away around it yet, I always try and squeeze from the bottom every time, but that doesn't always work either. I've also tried taking the plunger out and filling from the top, and yes the tube does get splits in it. So frustrating.

Yes, I squeeze it from the bottom, but in the end I just have to squeeze wherever I can to get the cream to come out. Sometimes it seems that the cream just moves around the tube without going into the applicator. If it doesn't work next time with pulling the plunger out a bit, I think I might try squeezing the tube and pulling the plunger out slowly at the same time - if I can manage that!

I agree that it is very frustrating.

Yes that's what I find it just keeps moving around the tube, I think it has something to do with the air in the tube, a bit like an air lock.

Yes, I totally agree - it’s exactly like that!
