Hello,
I am on Evorel Conti 50 patches and they are ok but I know I need abit more estrogen due to certain issues.
Does anybody take those same patches and top up the estrogen with gel?
Tia :)

Is anybody using any type of patch and topping up with gel?
Or perhaps using two patches?
Thanks.

I know there are people that do this. There is someone on Instagram called Meandmyhrt who is interesting to follow. She has 2 patches and I think she maybe does top up with gel too

Hi it’s not advisable to top up Evorel Conti with gel as there may not be enough progesterone in the patch for the extra oestrogen.
If you need more oestrogen it would be advisable to switch to an oestrogen only patch with a separate progesterone. X

Thank you Dotty for clarifying. Yes the Instagram to which I referred takes utrogestan separately.

Hello ladies.
Davina McCall did a YouTube video recently where she demonstrated her HRT regime. She uses a patch and although she didn't say which one it was very small so I'm guessing Estradot. She also rubs one pump of Oestrogel onto her upper arm and puts a pea sized blob of Testogel on her thigh.
She is a patient of Newson Health and she said that Louise Newson had told her she needed more oestrogen so the gel was added.
Davina didn't say anything about the progesterone being insufficient for womb protection but I assume that she is having regular scans.
Take care ladies.

Hi Kathleen
Davina uses an oestrogen only patch so that’s fine to add gel to it…probably under supervision. But Evorel Conti has oestrogen and progesterone combined in one patch, so extra gel should not be added to it as the progesterone in the patch may not be enough. Xxx

There's no logic to it. If you use utro the dose is the same for any amount of oestrogen, yet for a patch they say it isn't. Changing prog may be the best option, the other way would be to use a part patch. If you have agreement from your gp to go off piste they may scan you to check the lining is thin after a few months. If you're worried about you could arrange your own.

I am on evorel sequi on week 3 - my night sweats are still going on - can I use a pump of estrogel as well ?

Harbi46, I wouldn’t. You should wait. It can take months for the HRT to resolve symptoms.
Sheila, I agree, it doesn’t make sense the way it’s different for Utrogestan & the conti patch.
Many do add gel to a patch regime but often only for certain times of the month, which my doctor discussed with me as I struggle a bit during my period with symptoms. They’re easing so I haven’t done so but it’s an option.
