Hi all.
After re starting HRT ( utrogesten and estradiol) I stopped after a week due to side effects.
This was a week ago.
Fast forward to today .
Had a small op in hospital but as part of pre op checks my urine was tested. It showed a faint positive for pregnancy !!!!
There is no way I can be pregnant , as no recent activity in that department !
Is it possible the HRT caused a false positive ??
Any thoughts anyone ?
I'm 55 and last period was 4 years ago.
The surgeon who isn't Gynae said it was ok to carry with op as most likely false positive.
It did get me thinking though !😵

Hormones ? ::)
I would ask a Pharmacist 4 advice.

That's what I was thinking !!
Unless it's the immaculate conception !
Thanks for reply

I don't think HRT would cause this but I guess nothing is absolutely certain! I did find this comment "Slightly elevated serum human chorionic gonadotropin (hCG) can be a normal finding in postmenopausal women." but looking at various sites it appears that maybe this should be mentioned to your GP to rule out any other causes. I think sometimes the pituitary gland can cause various hormone "blips"?

Taz,
Thanks for reply. Must admit I'm not sure either ! Think I 'll do my own test and see what results I get x

Just call the baby Jesus...

;D. that crossed my mind but it's the wrong time of year ......... possibly ;)
Not much hay around for a stable yet. Silage, yes. But that's smelly. Donkeys out in the fields etc., etc., etc..
Did U get a home test?
-
Hi, yes I got a home test and it was negative !
I also had some slight spotting yesterday. ( maybe due to stopping HRT )
I'm going to ring the GP anyway just to check !
There's always something isn't there :o
-
Yep - how worried R U ?
At least if the home test is negative you R probably experiencing an upheavals of hormones!
-
Think I've gone from being a bit worried to bemused !
I've tried two different HRT regimes in two months so think it's all the hormone messing around.
Think I need to give my quest for the perfect HRT a rest.
Will see what GP thinks . . X

Update.
Spoke to GP.
She thinks because I started a new HRT regime a week before the pregnancy test the Progesterone element was picked up as a faint hcg positive.
However I need to retest in 3 weeks just to be sure . I'm not to take any HRT until then .
Even though in all probability I can't be it did worry me a bit !!!! Imagine a baby at 55 😩😩😩

NOPE! what's the reality of that happening? although my Aunt did have a menopause baby when she was 45. :o
I have never been pregnant, through choice. Do U have any other symptoms, i.e. tender breasts or swelling thereof?

You did say you'd had no activity in that department ;D

No preggy symptoms ! With my previous pregnancies I felt sick straight away and have had nothing like that !
