Title: Provera dose?
Post by: Julia Dizzy on June 21, 2021, 12:20:16 PM
Hi,

Am thinking of trying Provera instead of Utrogestan 100mg orally every day, to see if it makes any difference to stomach bloats and aches etc.

I am on Estradot 50 patch, so would a dose of 5mg Provera be correct for this? Just so I know what to ask for.... :-\

Thanks

I'm on Provera, and like Utrogestan it seems to be a one-size-fits-all dose, so whatever dose of estrogen you're on you'll probably be prescribed 10mg Provera. I might be wrong though - I'd be interested to hear what you get!

Racjen - do you take it daily? x

Julia Dizzy, I think the continuous dose is usually 5mg.  10mg for sequential regimens.  Have look at this link from Chelwest & scroll down to the section entitled comparative dose prescribing point 9.  You can show it to your GP if need be.

If you look at the information on this website you will see that for cyclical use the dose is 10 mg daily for 14 days per 28. For post-menopause - continuous use it is 2.5 or 5 mg

Of course this dose could be varied by your GP if necessary.

Hurdity x

Sorry Wrensong I see you answered as I was writing my response! Interesting thoough that advice differs from the standard doses on this website?

Hi Hurdity, yes the difference is interesting!  But probably depends on dose of oestrogen?

Julia Dizzy, forgot to say I only take 2.5mg MPA due to prog intolerance but my regimen is Cons managed, off piste & my oestrogen low dose.  It feels like very powerful stuff.

I was prescribed it at 10mg sequentially, but I can't tolerate that much so at the moment I take 5mg; I've been doing that for 6 months or so and get a good  bleed with no spotting in between, so I'm hoping that's enough for me.

Racjen, like you I get a good bleed on MPA.  I think it's very efficient stuff!
