Hi all,
I'm feeling a little overwhelmed by my symptoms again at the moment.
I am 49, peri, on 3 pumps oestrogel and 200mg oral utrogestan 12 nights out of 28.
When I first switched to this regime back in Feb I felt great, a real boost. In recent months my energy levels have tanked. I emailed Heather Currie who suggested I could increase my gel to 4 pumps to see if this helps.
For the past couple of days I have tried 3 1/2 and do think this has helped. Does oestrogel have such a quick effect?
However one of my main problems at the moment is terrible pains in my shoulders blades, neck etc.
Over the past few months I have had a couple of episodes where I would feel a 'twang' in my shoulder blade and then have a terrible pain for a few days which would slowly ease. Not sure if this is muscles or nerves?
I see a lady for 'Bowen Therapy' every so often and she could feel hot spots on my back where I was experiencing the pain and thought it was muscular.
Over the weekend I have had the same thing happen again but much worse, in my neck and shoulder, terrible pain, I can literally feel it start, took painkillers every 4 hours yesterday, its a smidge better today....
Anyone lese have similar? Is there anything I can do to help this as it does not seem to be linked to lifting or gardening etc just spontaneous.
I know I carry all my stress and emotions in my neck and shoulders and know that this is not helpful. I have quite a bit of emotional stress still going on in my life, anxiety, along with a torn retina, I'm just feeling a bit pants :(
Sorry if this is a bit of a jumble..

Stop the 'Bowen' technique?
?? Yoga; taking time out for you; relaxation therapy; ?? as oestrogen levels drop so muscles may become lax = aches and pains. I have neck problems with sudden shocking pain which doesn't last. Fortunately. I try to remember to do shrugging exercises, i.e. drawing my neck up to my ears, hold; relax. Then leaning my head to the left, hold; relax, repeat to the other side. No need to stress too much, if movements nip, I stop.
Dropping the shoulders can ease stress too. Mine are often up round my ears :-\
You describe something that I remember having years ago, in that the muscle between neck and shoulder nipped a lot. Enough to go 'ouch!'
R U able to delegate around the house?

Thank you CLKD.
I love your calm and sensible replies :thankyou:
I do feel that Bowen is helping... It's just too easy for me at the moment to catastrophise every symptom, so it is good to know I am not alone iyswim.
I have been wanting to start Yoga for a while and so I need to look into whats avaiilable online.
Thanks again CLKD, I really appreciate your reply.

I think increasing gel is a good move. It's not usual to need more as you progress towards meno, I started on 2 pumps, now very late peri and 4 pumps. We're at an age where we can't get away with poor posture, lack of exercise etc in the same way we did when we were young. No experience of bowden and I don't know what training they do but if it was me I'd see a physio (who are properly trained) and see what they say. We can self refer from the surgery. Pilates can be useful to strengthen the 'right' muscles and relax others.

Thank you shelia99… good advice….
I have been doing 3 1/2 pumps for a couple of days, think I have felt slightly better energy levels but having more palpitations again, don’t know if either of these are coincidental or not….
Thanks again.

It's the Trial and Error that is so wearying. :-\
Calm? Moi? I'm like a swan, padding like fury underneath ;D
Perhaps alternate the pumps until you get a regime that kind of helps?
