I've been prescribed Metformin for insulin resistance by my Doctor but I'm a little anxious about taking it, as I think it can affect your hormone levels. I wondered if anyone here takes it and if it had affected anything / there is anything I should watch out for? x

Hi Gilla999, I don’t take metformin, but family members who take it tend to have lower blood sugar, which is generally good, but can put them at risk of ‘hypos’. I think oestrogen also lowers blood sugar, so I guess watch out for low blood sugar! Some slow-release carbs in moderation should help...
Hopefully someone who takes it themselves can give you more info!

Thanks for the reply Zilla - I've read it can cause night sweats and lower estrogen levels so I think I'll talk to my doc about any alternatives... really not keen to mess with my hormones when I've just got them stable after such a long time! Thanks for taking the time to reply xx
