Title: Estrogen reading lower - needing a bit of advice please as not feeling great
Post by: pepperminty on June 07, 2021, 07:59:05 AM
Hi Ladies,

you know how it is when you are feeling generally unwell. I have been having eatrogen tests privately - about yearly to monitor my levels. Recently I have been feeling more achey and generally exhausted and teary and more pain in muscle and joints etc.

My Gphas booked me in for blood tests and I suspect that it will show nothing.

But my estrogen test - which has a handy graph tracker shows a drop .

Normally I am
367- 357- 348 - over the last 3 years so pretty consistent .

Today it was 301.
Now I know that is not a massive drop , but I am very sensitive to even small increases of estrogen, so do you think this drop is enough to cause all these symptoms?
I am pretty low and finding it all a bit much at the moment, as I feel so crap.

I am on Femosten 1/10 with a half tablet of estrogen added every other day. And I am mid 50's .

Any thoughts as to whether this drop could cause all this , and any experience would be appreciated as It can be hard thinking clearly when you feel so dreadful.

I'm not familiar with levels as mine aren't tested but given the return of symptoms  increasing oestrogen would be a logical way to go.

Can you take the extra half a tablet every day instead of every other to see if its enough to help?  We all have a magic number when it comes to estrogen levels and i guess even the smallest of drop could tip you over so your symptoms increase.

Thanks Floo36,

I think I am going to have to do that. Previously an increase caused issues for me , but I think that I am getting older and need more estrogen. I have lso booked in to the Loiuse Newson cinic. I am lucky my husband thinks my wellbeing is more important than anything else and we can just about afford it. I feel that I need a bit of specialist guidance as I suspect that I need to change my HRT type. But in the light of the hyperplasia I need a bit of proffesional support. My GP is clueless and the meno clinic I attend seems to have less knowkedge than I do. One specialist at the clinic did not realise you have to take utrogestan on an empty stomach. So much for knowing what you are prescribing in detail.

350ish is not a massivley high estrogen level, and as you say if you're very sensitive to changes rather than the level itself I'd say it could certainly affect you. My estrogen level has to be much higher than that (ie at least 800) for me to feel OK.

Hi Racjen,

When I was on prempac C ( had to stop due to prgesterone bit) I was a different woman. Painful joints went over night  ( I only had a bit of nausea as side effect on the estrogen only bit). I have never got that back. So  I guess I really need more , but have been too scared to change incase the benefit I have now goes and I get worse. But I am coming to the conclusion that I really need to try as every day I wake up and walk like  I have not oiled my limbs , all stiff and painful. As well as the fatigue and anxiety.

Hi Pepperminty, just read your post…sorry you are experiencing a really difficult time too. It makes me appreciate even more so your support with my rollercoaster with HRT. I’m sorry I can’t give advice or help with regards to levels. I can send you a huge virtual hug though and hope that you find the right levels soon and that you feel much better too. Maziefluffy77
