Hi Ladies ,
if you use utro vaginally can it cause irritation, or problems don below?. Has anyone had any issues with thier foof ::) using this method.

Ha, me and my girls call it a foof too!!
Yes it can definitely irritate, my pee pipe seems irritated at times, and a generally irritated foof......a few days off normally sorts it out xx

Foof! Great name. Yes me too, I usually swap and take orally for a few days. Feel like it irritates my womb too. Having hysterectomy in few weeks so will no longer need the progesterone - one benefit at least!

Hi there, I am new to Urogestan PV. I am finding it absolutely horrible. Apart from destroying my calming night time cool down activities: washing, moisturising with the need to poke something up....🙀....it is the horrid waking up feeling rather slushy that is SO vile. I can’t take Progesterone by pill (Femoston conti lowest dose ) as it makes my eyes go funny or by patch as I am allergic to the adhesive..... but these dreadful PV pills are horrible... if you can try something else. :

I’m 4 days in on starting the Utro vaginally after finding the side effects of taking it orally too much to bear with. I have been finding myself feeling irritated down there. Burning feeling in my vadge and general irritation around the entrance/labia.
I’ve been prescribed Vagirux (estradiol) pessaries (auto correct changing that to peas Ariel!) to help with VA, dryness and bladder problems so I’m hoping that it will help with the irritation from Utro too? Like they cancel each other out a bit?
Compared to the side effects of taking it orally I would rather put up with this than be zombiefied and flat. I was also having absolutely awful bloating and gastric issues (acid reflux/nausea/indigestion).
I am starting to notice my bladder situ has got worse again yesterday and today so I’m hoping that’s not because of the Utro :-\ It had been getting much better since starting HRT and I’ll be gutted if the price of getting rid of the first symptoms is now bladder incontinence issues again. As well as the burning.
Hoping the Vagirux, which I start next week, will counter it all!
Or that it settles as my body gets used to it. I’ve noticed that the burning isn’t continuous but on and off.
I went (tried) to go running this morning and kept singing my vadge is on fire along to Kings of Leon ;D

Hello ladies.
I hate using Utrogestan vaginally. I have employed this method in the past without problems but I have restarted HRT after a long break and my abdomen feels quite tender although this may be due to the many pumps of Oestrogel that I am also using this time. I don't feel zombiefied and flat, infact I am wired to the moon and back so maybe my entire regime needs looking at!

I wonder if the majority get on ok with popping it in the foof? it is a minefield. If it were men who had the Menopause, I suspect that there would be a lot more choice of progesterone by now and that a lot of treatments for the foof would be over the counter and easily acessible.

Kathleen, you are not alone, it also makes me feel so wired, that I actually get jittery and palpitations, hate it, no sedatory effects for me. :-\

I use utrogestan via the back door which I find not at all irritating and apparently it absorbs better than via oral route.

These appear to be an option to use :
There are progesterone pessaries available, such as Cyclogest or Lutigest, (more commonly used as part of
fertility treatments) that contain progesterone and are specifically designed as vaginal pessaries. Some women
find these preferable to use, instead of the Utrogestan vaginally.

Conclusion
We did not demonstrate any difference regarding perineal irritation with any of the forms or routes assessed, despite a higher rate of vaginal discharge in the vaginal capsules group. More constipation and flatulence were associated with the rectal route. We observed similar outcomes regarding pregnancy and implantation rates, even if the study was not powered enough to detect a significant difference in such parameters. Rectal administration of progesterone is as effective and safe as the vaginal route.

Ooh interesting.
Though if the findings state that there was no real difference in the amount of irritation via vaginal/rectal route then hmmm... decisions decisions..?
I think I’ll opt for the burning itchy vadge/discharge/bladder irritation over the constipation/flatulence/burning itchy bum hole option. ???
I read somebody upthread describe the waking up feeling as ‘slushy’. Sounds so disgusting but that is exactly what it’s like! And I’m actually feeling something bordering on grateful - to have an itchy/sore vadge! Just because the alternative is worse (for me).
I can’t imagine feeling wired on it, it’s fascinating to read how differently we are affected by the same hormones. I loved the sedating affects initially because they chilled me out but unfortunately it just went too far the other way and I was finding 2 weeks of the month I was so wiped out I couldn’t get moving and was feeling a constant low/depressed mood. I feel great now except for the localised irritation.
I’m still hoping that with time or the Vagirux pessaries (vaginal) it will settle. I will report back next week once I start taking them (after period stops) if I notice any improvement.

Avalon if you google something along the lines of "rectal progesterone absorption" you'll see many studies (also forums for trans women have lots of input on rectal route). Of many studies I've read one says "The usual route of administration of natural P is vaginal, rectal, or intramuscular (1M). I've also read on here that Nick Panay is ok with rectal route - I should be getting a referal to his NHS clinic (will take months) and this will be one of the first things I'll ask him or colleague about. I'm also getting a scan to check endometrium that should tell me whether 7 days a months of rectal utrogestan are ok. In terms of personal preference oral route made me feel awful and practically faint with dizziness (even lying down in bed) and the idea of vaginal route freaks me out for some reason.

I wouldn't want the vag route as my foof is so delicate - so if I try utro , if it doesn't work orally, I will try another type of HRT.

Like Kathleen & Cassie, Utro also makes me horribly wired, extremely hot & sleepless with bad palpitations, however much oestrogen I've taken with it & whatever the route. Though never tried the back door :o

Back door definitely worth a try. Like so many things, administration route preferences/customs are often culturally determined, eg. on "the continent" suppositories are widely used in comparison with UK. I'm half French/Italian and in those countries practically every ailment from a headache to car sickness and worse has people reaching for a suppository as the active ingredients are considered better absorbed.

Never tried it orally so can’t compare, but vaginally makes me need the loo more, dries me out and irritates me externally as the powder stuff comes out the following day.

The progesterone in Prempac C when I took it, did exactly the same to me, hot and sleepless nights and heart racing. But the estrogen in it worked a treat and all my aches went ( felt a bit queasy but ok) .
Shame they do not do more research into the rectal route and side effects as this may be the way to go for some ( if you see what ::) i mean ).

Funny thing is using it vaginally constipates me badly but I'm ok using it rectally.
Avalon, that's odd isn't it, but then what isn't bizarre about menopause? Nothing surprises me anymore :D.
