Hello everyone,
Is anyone suffering with hideous cramps which feel like electric shocks?
I've been having pre-menopausal symptoms for the past 2 years. Tingling in my arms, legs and head, migraine, vertigo, and worst of all these debilitating cramps in my left calf which feel like electric shocks.
After continuous pleading with the GP they finally agreed to prescribe combined HRT which I started 7 days ago. I was so excited but 3 days into my treatment I started experiencing increasing cramps in my left leg which got so bad that the GP sent me to A&E with a suspected blood clot or DVT. Tests were negative thankfully but I'm rather worried.
Has anyone else had a similar experience ?
I now don't know if should stick with the HRT or come off it! I'm so anxious I've thought about a self referral to a private gynaecologist. Not sure I want to suffer these really painful cramps but I equally don't want to continue with the migraine, vertigo etc etc etc.
Any suggestions, thoughts, comments would really help.
Thank you,
Lou

I get leg cramps, fizzy, wobbly, achy legs from low and fluctuations Estrogen. I know that mine have got worse the closer I get to menopause. Are you peri menopausal?

LoulouG,
Are you taking magnesium supplements at all? I used to get cramps frequently but magnesium citrate has totally stopped them. I take Solgar ones but there are other brands available.

Cramp can B due to a lack of salt in the diet ;)

Hello ladies, :)
Thanks so much for your responses. I've started taking extra magnesium supplements which I read was very good for cramps and so far so good. Although the restless leg issue at night is beyond a joke now. Today I ordered some Prolab pro meno complex tablets which I've been told is a very good natural supplement, although there are so many out there it's hard to know until I start taking it. Fingers crossed.
Thanks all,
Lou

I got leg cramps on Evorel Sequi which I stopped for other reasons. I've not had this symptom with any other form of HRT and I'm now on Evorel 50 with Utrogestan and have never had leg cramps on this regime. It felt like a chronic ache in my left calf.
I didn't get to the stage where I thought I needed to see a doctor but was a little concerned. I got a cream for aching/heavy legs on amazon and this helped. I thought it was possibly caused by the progestogen in this patch?
I have also had a sharp tingly sensation in my upper thigh which could get quite uncomfortable but this was prior to starting HRT. It went away once I started the systemic estradiol.
