Title: Has anyone stopped estrogel and utrogestan cold turkey?
Post by: GetStuffedPeri on May 12, 2021, 02:29:51 PM
The utrogestan is making my wife feel like a total zombie.  She's been on the combo (3 pumps per day and daily 100mg utrogestan) for 6 weeks.  She has tried utrogestan both orally and vaginally.  Whilst all of the physical symptoms have pretty much gone (estrogel is a game changer!), the crushing groggy-like zombie feeling that comes with the utrogestan is wiping her out and rendering her incapable of doing anything anyway, even though the flushes and night sweats, insomnia, itchy skin etc etc have gone.  The gel got rid of her brain fog but the tablet has given her a new form of it!  We're considering trying a few days or so off it all to see if all the other symptoms come back.  Anyone experienced this?  If ONLY she didn't need that blooming progesterone capsule......

I did! It was a total non-event.

Shannon - thanks for your reply - what do you mean by a "non event" please in terms of symptoms?  Did you miss it?  Are you back on it?!

Dotty - thank you - never heard of Provera - away to Google I go!

I’m on different HRT but researched going off and also back on cold turkey. I did it and got symptoms, but going back on was harder.
From my research it’s better on the body to taper it.

Non-event as in nothing happened right away. I was preparing for rage and mood issues. I really didn’t notice anything until about 6 weeks later. I’m back on a much lower dosage now of Estrogel, and have a Mirena now.

Yip went off due to rash, I did it incrementally just to see if the rash would go away.
No side affects, hot flushes came back though.
Break through spotting when I stopped the prometrium.

Check with GP first though
