For a few weeks now my teeth have been playing up and I'm wondering if anyone has the same problem. Specifically I am getting small electric shocks in any one of them eg it can be a bottom left tooth then next thing a top right tooth, then a top left tooth then a bottom right tooth, etc... It's not all the time, just periodically throughout the day but annoying and a bit concerning.
I just wondered if anyone had experienced this and if so, any suggestions to try and calm this down?
Thanks everyone x

Not sure if hormonal but as we get older our gums recede, you've heard the saying long in the tooth. I'd try some sensitive toothpaste and floss more to keep the plaque away.
-
Yep.
The important thing is, as with brisk walking, to keep the gums active. The bone in the jaw requires something to work against, so gum health is important. I opted for implants when I needed 3 teeth removing because a plate doesn't give the same impact as the implants are doing.
When did you have a dental check ? As suggesting 'floss' ;-) I find the 'Tip-pe' sticks really good as my teeth are too crocked to floss. My dentist suggested coating any tender areas with 'sensydine' [sp] paste and not rinsing. YUK!

Hi pamabz,
Just a thought
Do you get pain in your face as well and headaches?
I’ve started with a similar problem with my teeth that made me go to my dentist, and they said I had a crack in my tooth and filled it. But I still had the same pain upper teeth but the pain could be on the left side or right. After going back again and been told there’s nothing wrong, could it be sinus?
At that point sinus starting up but my pain was random left, right, along my jaw, behind my eye etc. it would come and go and always in a different place. A ENT specialist has told me I have facial pain syndrome. My doctor has never heard of it, so it’s not very common.
If no pain anywhere else, make appointment with your dentist.
-
Thanks everyone for responding :)
Dierdre / CKLD - I totally agree, we definitely need to look after our teeth, especially the older we get. I'm a regular flosser/ Tip-pe'er and have used Sensodyne for years, along with Oranurse when my BMS is at its worst. Yes, I'm afraid I've had burning mouth syndrome for 3 years now and counting. It's bearable most days but I could see it far enough sometimes...
Lyncola - I could, and have, actually written your post so I can totally sympathise with you (see my previous posts). My story is long :) I've had face pain, horrendous headaches, jaw pain, temple pain, bms, earache, the list goes on, again for nearly 3 years. At the outset I was diagnosed with TN on the left side of my face however I'm the same as you, I was getting the symptoms all over my face and all over my head so I've always been a bit unsure about that diagnosis. However, I was prescribed nerve medication for my face/head issues and HRT for my body issues.
Last year I decided enough was enough and when lockdown lifted I started going to Acupuncture, it was the only thing I hadn't tried. Six months on and I've managed to get off the HRT and when I did, the headaches, temple pain, earache and jaw pain literally improved by around 90%, I couldn't believe it! I went through a pretty rubbish withdrawal and of course traded that symptoms for other menopause symptoms but I persevered and so glad I did.
I've also managed to reduce one of the nerve meds by half however on my last reduction the tooth issue started and hasn't settled at all the past few weeks but in the back of my head I always question the TN diagnosis and can't help thinking its my hormones hence my post, to see if anyone else had the same symptoms and could relate. I agree, it's definitely one of the more uncommon symptoms to have but I'm almost convinced it's caused by hormones so thank you for sharing your story with me.
Hopefully both our journeys with the facial pain comes to an end soon, wishing you well.
Xx

Ummm... that's if you're a horse 🐎 as they have teeth that carry on growing and protrude forwards as they get old

TN is a sharp, stabbing, intense pain: suddenly, cannot be anticipated. Have a lookC at the TN website. I had this in the 1990s, it would be so severe I would hit the floor with shock.
It lasted intermittently for about 2 years then went. I had similar symptoms following the insertion of a implant - must have aggravated the nerve. Took about 6 weeks to settle and was no where as intense as the above.
Sinus pain should resolve with a course of anti-biotics to clear any infection.
-
My story continues had my ENT appointment this morning. And he has concluded that the Amitriptyline medication isn’t working and will refer me back to my doctor. With instructions on other medication to try.
It’s definitely not sinus related, as he said if it was a infection it would be constant pain in one place. Which I have had years ago, so I agree it’s not sinus related.
I think it could be hormonal related too. I can get a good couple of months where I get rib pain. Can be on the last side or right, or middle sharp stabbing pains that comes and goes. Then it will disappear for months. Had test done and no one can tell me why?
I’m looking forward to having one day with out pain, if it’s not facial pain it could be back pain, virginal atrophy, fissure or piles, rib pain, foot pain etc. two and half years with something painful everyday.
Good luck to you to pamabz

I am also suffering from random tooth pain, I told my dentist it was like someone was playing the piano on my teeth, and you never knew which tooth was going to hurt next!
Always seems worse when I am stressed, so I believe it it linked to TMJ, and bruxism. I wear a mouth guard at night as I had previously damaged so many teeth, clenching at night. I carry all my tension in my jaw, I can feel it. Has got worse since I came off HRT 12 weeks ago, as my anxiety levels have increased.
It just one thing after another, its any wonder that any woman actually survives the menopause!!!!!!!!
-
Me again, finally got to see the neurologist He’s put me back on Amitriptyline 10mg, he agreed with me 20mg wasn’t much, so I have to start all over again.
So I had my wisdom two top teeth pulled out over four weeks ago. And guess what I’m still in bloody pain on the left side? The doctor that pulled them out has been useless after my three week check up, told me if I think about the pain I will have pain >:(.
At times the pain can be as bad as when it was first pulled out? On Monday my doctor (bless her) has put me on antibiotics because of sinus bleeding when my tooth was pulled out, hopefully this might help. I’m also seeing my dentist tomorrow to let her have a look to see if my gums look normal.
I wish I never had my teeth pulled out, I’ve got enough to deal with without extra pain
-
Pamabz how have you been? Did you ever get rid of your tooth pain?
-
Just look at my last post months ago the medication the ENT recommended made my IBS worse. Do my doctor referred my to neurologist. Had my meeting with him he come up with a couple of reasons for my face pain and headaches. He put me on a low dose of a medication for two weeks didn’t work. So I’m back on Amitriptyline until I see him mid October. I’ve got a MRI on Monday.
Now if I could just get rid of this tooth pain. A couple of things it doesn’t hurt to eat or sleep with my tooth. At times the pain can get to a level 10 and just throbs like I’ve just had it pulled out. Overtime in the day it can be medium pain. Right now watching TV I would say a level one or two. When the pain is bad it can last hours. I just hope my dentist or doctor can help me and I won’t have this horrible pain for the rest of my life.
Anyone had long term tooth pain?
-
I had a tooth out upper left in March and I had severe pain lasting up to half an hour on the lower jaw after that for a while - not stabbing, but permanent pain, which would then go. This lasted about three weeks. Xrays showed the lower teeth were fine so who knows what caused it.
Recently I've noticed my upper teeth, around where the extraction was, occasionally give me shots of pain. I can't say it's electric shocks, or that it floors me, so hopefully that means I don't have TN as the pain of that is supposed to be very, very bad. It's not even as bad as hitting a sensitive tooth with ice cream, it's much less painful than that. It is very disconcerting though because I don't know what's causing it and TN is always in the back of my mind. The extraction was 5 months ago now, but every so often those top teeth give me pain, 3 or 4 times every ten minutes or so, and then it stops.
At the same time, my HRT regime has stopped working so perhaps these things are indeed related, although it does seem too much of a coincidence that I had a tooth out around the time it started.
I've also had to start wearing a gum shield at night which stopped the pain in the lower teeth, so obviously I'd started grinding in my old age.
No idea why the top teeth around the extraction would still be stabbing 5 months later tho....
I also get phantom rib pain for no goddamned reason
-
You would know if it was trigenimal neuralgia, there really is no argument with that 1 :o. It would hit my face and I would drop to the ground.
There are a lot of nerve endings to that area may well be sensitive . Apparently 'sensodyne' toothpaste, a small amount on the painful area should help. Several times a day. Pain in the lower jaw as you describe may well B due to the mouth being pulled about?
-
I was hoping you'd reply, CLKD, since you said you'd had it and it was bad pain. That sounds absolutely dreadful.
Yeah to the sensodyne. When I mentioned the pain to my dentist he said he'd had grumbling pain on and off for almost a year after he'd had a wisdom tooth out, so fingers crossed this is the same. He also recommended sensodyne rubbed on the teeth as well so I can back you up on that one!
-
Hi applejack,
I also get random rib pain, that comes and goes for a couple of months then will disappear for a couple of months. My doctor doesn’t seem concerned and I’ve done a ultrasound and nothing showed up.
I also got random headaches and facial pain since October last year. I can get up to 100 a day, after seeing a ENT specialist I’m now seeing a neurologist. But at times it does get into my teeth and gives me problems for a couple of days?
My dentist agrees with my doctor that my wisdom tooth extraction has gotten into my sinus. Because I kept blowing my nose. So now I’m not allowed to blow my nose, or any balloons for two weeks or more.
She already giving me a repeat antibiotics script.
She happy to help me work out what this problem is, my biggest fear is everyone will tell me it’s all in my head. Like the idiot that pulled them out “if you don’t think about the pain you won’t have pain” >:
On the third day my pain had much improved, but today it’s going backwards on my tooth, plus I’ve had 54 head pains, facial pains and counting, my nose is full of red sores, and my lips are so dry. Just got so much problems going on at the moment :'(
-
Referred pain can irritate for a while, there is a lot of tugging when a tooth is removed. It is bound to affect the jaw line as well as nearby teeth.
Wisdom teeth: this reminded me. For years++ B4 a period was due, my wisdom teeth were painful. Really really bothersome, 2 the point that DH had to sieve my food! For about 12 years after they were extracted in Hospital: I looked like a hamster :o, again food needed sieving and I would wake, crying with pain : the sockets would be painful pre-period. So it must have been hormonal, I think that someone could have done a Research Degree on my hormones!
-
Dear God - as if tooth pain or hormonal discomfort aren't enough without the two of them at the same time
Lyncola that sounds awful - really hope your neurologist can sort this out for you it sounds debilitating
-
Remembering sinus pain, much worse when leaning forwards!
-
Your right CLKD, I always know I have sinus by bending over and the pain gets worse. Not really having this with the tooth pain. Just pain that radiates at the top of the gum and into my cheek.
Saw my doctor again and explain that the gum is saw when I touch it, blood still coming out, even though I not blowing it. She still thinks it’s a sinus air pocket, she said it will take weeks for it to close up. I’m having my MRI on Monday and will get them to forward the results to my doctor, to see if it picks up anything on my sinus.
-
OUCH!
I had a sinus infection 1 C.mas morning, bending 4wards getting out of bed was so PAINFUL. 😣
Let us know how you get on?
-
I do wonder if hormones can produce such symptoms or at least make issues worse, maybe increasing sensitivity. As people who have followed my story know I have had on going teeth problems. I was in agony for 4 months and lesser pain for another 3. I had 2 root canals and xrays showed one needed doing again. Everything settled until they redid the 2nd root canal a couple of weeks ago and now I am in real pain again and having to have back to back pain killers. The dentist can't see anything wrong with the root canals but the pain ony restarted after the final treatment so I think it must be related. It is too specific for sinuses but I agree that tooth ache and sinus issues can seem similar. For me when I lie down or bend over the pain is far worse, which is the same as a sinus infection. I am on antibiotics but they don't seem to be having any effect. I am also on low dose amitryptilyne in case it is nerve related.
Any type of facial pain is dreadful and you all have my sympathies.
-
Oh shrosphirelass :'(
-
I’m sorry to hear your still going through this crap shrosphirelass. I’ll thought of you when my pain from wisdom teeth removal still bothered me after two weeks. I knew your story and thought god is this going to happen to me. This teeth pain, sinus pain plus my headaches and facial pain is just terrible.
I’ll can believe you are going through this crap again. I’m on a low dose of Amitriptyline 10mg (having to start all over again) and I’m just starting my third box of antibiotics. I also had two weeks of Arthrexin (inflammation and pain relief) by my neurologist (my doctor said it’s good with bone pain). Worked a little bit at the start, so out of the 5 weeks I’ve only had two days with no medication. The weird thing about my pain is one day it’s on my left side next day the pain can be on the right? I’m just hoping my dentist and doctor can help me, they seem to be trying to help. As I don’t want to go back to the dick that pulled them out. I’m sorry but what crap, “if you don’t think about the pain you won’t have pain” >:(
The funny thing is I’m comfortable at night in bed, so that’s a good thing. And eating doesn’t bother me?
Please keep in touch shrosphirelass, and I pray that both our pain improves and we can feel normal again
:bighug:
-
So sorry to hear things are still so bad for you Lyncola and worse in fact. Great you are able to get some sleep. Id be tempted to stay in bed! Night times are bad for me, had an awful night last night but much better now. I'll take any improvement. I do hope you get some relief, its exhausting and really depressing. Don't give up hope, they'll get to the bottom of it, hopefully your MRI will help. Let us know.
I know CLKD, can't believe its still ongoing.

Just as a matter of interest there was an article in The Mail on Sunday entitled Why the menopause could make your teeth fall out. Apparently, and I quote, ‘ studies she that up to half of the 13 million menopausal women in the UK suffer oral health symptoms such as painful gums, dry mouth, tooth loss and even phantom tastes and that these are as common as hot flushes and memory loss’
It’s quite a long article and definitely worth reading and which I’m sure you techy ladies will be able to access. I am suffering gum problems myself and having treatment with the hygienist. I suffered with menopausal symptoms for 12 years before I started HRT and I firmly believe it’s lack of oestrogen that caused my gum issues.
-
Yep. My Dentist and I discussed this topic 5 years ago. My suggestion and his reply was 'it is known that menopause can cause gum problems'. Which is why the gums need to have something to chew against, bit like brisk walking helps stave off osteoporosis. I can see that around 1 of my implants that the gum is receding, he told me not to worry. So I try not to ::)
-
I will find out my MRI results on Monday. It helps me a lot to write on here, and not feel so alone.
I would say my bad side is my left side, but if my left side isn’t hurting then my right side is? It can be different on any given day (left side one day right side the next day). Or like today, left side this morning then it changed to the right side. The pain can be at the gum (where the tooth was removed) and on top of roof of my mouth?
I will keep you lovely ladies informed ???
-
tnx. How is your neck?
-
No problem with my neck, why do you ask CLKD?
-
Referred pain to the jaw line ;-)
-
Today been a good day for my teeth, they almost feel normal, hopefully still good tomorrow, as I’ve had good days in the past then bad again the next day?
-
Good day for me too, but its ony 11.00. Ill take what I can get! Fingers crossed Lyncola.
-
Glad you had a good day shrosphirelass, I hoped it continue for you. Mine bothered me a bit more today. But still a improvement compared to before antibiotics. I’m praying I will still keep going forward after my antibiotics finish (Sunday). But feel I will be glad when they finish, loose bowels and farted blood this morning in my underwear :' not a great way to start the day.
Another problem I’ve got is the inside of my mouth on the side. By the end of the day it’s irritating and sore? I’ve no idea why? Had this on and off for about 3 months now.
Would you say shrosphirelass that your pain can be different every day? And can you have a good day follow by a bad day?
I’m keeping my fingers crossed for you too shrosphirelass :)
-
Whoops :o
I have ulcers occasionally especially if I bite the side of the mouth >:( - we have a product called 'bonjela' for that specific reason a bit like 'savlon' 4 the inside of the mouth.
-
Lyncola, yes some days are better than others and the intensity varies. It makes no sense to me but this was also the case when I had a sever infection, sometimes I would be close to suicidal and sometimes not as bad but the same level of infection. Re your mouth I have found if I am on antibiotics, using mouth wash / salt washes, pain medication etc it can result in mouth soreness. Not sure why, maybe its changing the natural habitat of the mouth. Good luck.
-
CLKD I have used bonjela for mouth ulcers and it seems really effective.
-
I had intense pain following extraction - it wasn't dry socket but simply a lot of tugging to get it out >:(. DH had to come home from work as I was suicidal. Bonjela is my go-2 for ulcers.
-
the joy of fluctuating hormones. I have had teeth/ gum problems since 2015 and only in the last 2 years worked out it was hormones causing it. Mine comes and goes. i get burning mouth, sore patchy white and red gums, painful teeth, sensitive to brush, sometimes hurts to eat sometimes it doesn't.
-
It's something that the dentists should be aware of, time to bring it up in the surgery. I asked mine and he already knew and he's way younger than we are ;D
-
I’ve been getting it too….all of a sudden I have gingivitis along one tooth and have had sore, irritated gums for a couple of weeks. It all started a few days after after I stopped a brief period of HRT, so I’m back on HRT now in the hope it all clears up. I wonder if the drop in oestrogen did it as I was going on along fine before that :-\
-
Thanks for all your replies ladies, shrosphirelass it makes me feel better that your similar to me, I think it’s just me why would my pain be different one day to the next? And if it was a problem like infection or sinus air bubble (which they think I’ve got) that the pain would be constant?
Today my pain was on my left side, it’s been fine for three days. Today the left side would her for a couple of hours then disappear and came back for about a hour in the afternoon. I don’t think I’ve got ulcers CLKD, as I’ve had them before. And you can see ulcers, when I look at the inside of my mouth, nothing is obvious. My right inside of mouth cheek has just started bothering me again at 6pm.
Only two more days to my doctors appointment (for my MRI results) followed by my dentist. I’m glad I didn’t cancel my dentist appointment. Just hoping we don’t go into lockdown as my dentist appointment might be canceled. A trucker from New South Wales, has entered Queensland and been infectious in the community for five days. If a case of one person in the community gets it from him we will be thrown into lockdown.
Anyway I’m thankful to all you ladies that reply to me, it really helps me a lot :)
-
Lyncola, all you can do is take one day at a time. I think that pain always varies to some extent. You often hear cancer patients, for example having good days and bad. I'm not too bad atm, its always there in the background, but definately copable.
I did a 30 day Headspace medication on how to mange pain and I would highly recommend it. It really helped me and can be revisited as often as needed. I know there are cost implications though. I was lucky to get the app for free as I am a student (perhaps one of the oldest there is!)
Good luck with your MRI scan results and let us know how you get on.
-
Had my doctors and dentist appointments today. The MRI showed sinus congestion, but nothing else.
I took the results to my dentist. She very happy with how my teeth look. I told her the pain has improved where my teeth were, big improvement since the antibiotics.
But I do get pain roof of my mouth and on the right side inner cheek. She thinks the roof of mouth pain could be from the sinus. So I’m now taking sinus medication. Still no idea about my cheek (she saw no problem with it) I’m back to gargling black tea. My doctor recommended it only did a couple of days before my teeth were pulled out. Bless her she didn’t charge me again (three times now) I bought her and her staff chocolates and scratches, for all there help. She said the antibiotics would of done their job there would be no infection left. If I’d still get pain to talk to my neurologist in October.
Shrosphirelass I talked to her about your pain and how long you had it. She said when it goes that long it’s more then likely damage nerves. Can I ask what level are you on with Amitriptyline? Did they ever moved you up to a higher level?
So if I could get my cheek and roof of my mouth back to normal that would be one less problem to deal with. I will keep doing the tea until my next doctors appointment on the 23rd of September. And if still problems hopefully she can give me the next step.
:bighug:
-
Hopefully you are on the mend Lyncola and its good that you have got a neurologist appointment lined up to explore issues. I have been feeling much better (fingers crossed). I do think my issues are wholly or largely teeth related. I was ok until the 3rd session of the complicated reroot session. I too have had antibiotics. The dentist wants to open the tooth up again if matters don't resolve. I wonder as well if I am just a very slow healer. Its 3.5 weeks since the last root canal session and the last 2 days I haven't had any pain relief (every day up until then since having that 3rd session). I can feel it, but it's manageable. As you say there is also probably some nerve involvement, which fingers crossed will improve in time. I am still on a 10mg dose and my dr really wants me to come off them, but the dentist advises against.
-
Will U return for the next stage shropshirelass? I would tend to leave well alone :-\
-
I can't see the specialist who has been treating me until the end of the month, which is good in a way as it gives it longer to improve (or get worse!) I have to then have two permenant fillings and crowns fitted, but I don't thnik any dentist will want to do that until they are sure there's nothing amiss with the root canals. I agree though, I would rather not have it opened up again, unless absolutely necessary. Thanks for checking in.
-
I opted for implants, as 1 of the root canals failed after a couple of years ::)
-
I’m really surprised they didn’t move up the your dose of Amitriptyline Shrosphirelass? My ENT specialist said after 2 months if’s there is still pain you increase the dose. But he wouldn’t let me go pass 20mg, and my doctor agreed with him. But neurologist agree with me 20mg is a very small dose and we should of tried higher.
So after being off them for 4 months, I’ve got to start all over again. I’m on week 4 (10mg) and my headaches and facial pains have gone from anywhere from 30-100 per day to 8-20 per day.
Been doing my black tea today and taking sinus medication. Can wait for the affect of the antibiotics to wear off. Sore tummy and I woke up at 3am to poop, runny and more blood and sore this morning dam fissure. Just another problem I’m putting off dealing with.
Hope you keep feeling better Shrosphirelass, I just think about how sore my teeth were before antibiotics and I know that I’m going in right direction, hopefully it will keep going in that direction :)
-
Get some appropriate cream up there Lincola - in the UK it's Anusol, regularly. Specifically for Piles, fissures etc., to be used at least once a day. To keep the area moist so that the inner anus doesn't spit. OUCH!
-
Hi Lyncola,
Sorry I haven't been in touch, I haven't logged on for a while, work and life mega busy just now.
I didn't realise how many responses there was to my post, I'm not getting any notifications for it so I'll need to check my settings... anyhow, sounds like you are getting a bit better? I'm happy to hear that as I know exactly what you're going through with all the face and head pain, how it moves around as well as being a constant in my temple area and jaw.
So, I've been better recently with my teeth, they seem to have settled down a bit. I still get the odd electric shock in any one of my teeth top and bottom but not as regular. However I'm still on nerve medication so I'm not sure if that is controlling it but I'm away to try another reduction in a couple of weeks time to find out so I'll see if my teeth flare up again, I'm hoping they don't! :-\ I went to the dentist a couple of months ago, she carried out an X-Ray and said teeth were fine so I've left them be, I'm pretty convinced its nerve related with me. I've also had Burning Mouth Syndrome for over 3 years now and I believe that's also related to my teeth issues.
As for the face pain and headaches, that was severe and went on for almost 3 years. Migraine headaches, jaw pain, temple pain, earache, headaches behind the eyes, forehead, top of my head, back of my head, the list was endless. The pain would move about constantly and it was daily, never any respite from it. I also had the problem of pain when lying down and when bending forward to the point that I couldn't even do Yoga, it was so painful. X-Ray with Maxillofacial ruled out sinus problems and couldn't see anything wrong.
I think I mentioned in a previous post I started acupuncture and once that started working I realised during that time that the HRT was causing the migraines and the jaw pain as since coming off the HRT they have much improved. I've continued with the Acupuncture and that has definitely helped me but I appreciate it's not accessible to everyone for various reasons and of course it might not work for everyone but in my case, it has made a difference. I've also started mindfulness, I don't find it easy to do as my mind wanders all the time but I have felt calmer since trying it and did notice a difference in the pain level for the better.
However, what I will say is it definitely takes time (will be 4 years in January for me), you are definitely not imagining the pain (I know how real it is also!!), you are not alone in this, and my hope is like me, it will start to improve for you as it is for me. When I finally came to terms with what was happening to me, and telling myself that this is going to be a marathon and not a sprint, that also helped my train of thought. Every day I tell myself that I'm a day closer to getting better :)
Of course, since coming off HRT I've had some other issues and I'm away to post a message on joint pain! lol the reason why I popped online today.
But, fingers crossed for you that your good spell is continuing, I do hope you have turned a corner and are heading for pain free days. Remember, even a few pain free days and then bad days is going in the right direction as before it was all painful days so any pain free days is an improvement.
I do believe we will get through this, and hopefully get back to being the bright, happy ladies enjoying life once again that I know we can be!
Take care xx

Great to hear from you pamabz, and I’m happy to hear things are looking up for you. Today was my first day without any type of medication (sinus, antibiotics, ant inflammatory medication) for four and half weeks. And I was okay, just the inner cheek pain and a bit on the roof of my mouth.
CLKD yes I use Proctosedyl cream and suppository, kills the pain and shrinks piles. But you can only use it for 7-10 days and no more. And Olive and Bee every night to keep me most. Last year I would bleed daily until Olive and Bee. And I use Bepanthen antiseptic cream after I poo with blood. Bepanthen has been a god send, never bleed for more then two days while using it, usually only one day. It was recommended by my friend, who’s gynaecologist recommended for her bleeding. Today I was fine again. I’m supposed to see a colon rectum surgeon, but been putting it off. But will tell my doctor to send a letter of by the end of the year.
:)
-
Terrible day today, woke up and left side tooth was really sore, plus I have a lump near the front tooth that sore as well. It seems to happen when my left tooth gets sore. I feel like the pain level is back to before antibiotics and when I was at the worst off my pain. The pain went from 6am to 5pm, seems to be worse at the tooth site when moving?
I contact the dentist assistant Kelly, and told her how bad I’m feeling. I asked could the sinus infection be coming back? She has no idea why I’m still having problems and they got me a appointment for tomorrow morning.
My stomach is still bad from being on antibiotics, I’m still having very loose bowels, which is causing fissure problems :'(
And when I was eating dinner, I bit the right side of my mouth again, only did it on the weekend.
I’m a bit over life at the moment. :'(
-
Lyncola I'm so sorry. Hopefully it is a blip and you feel better soon. Good that you've got an appointment arranged.
-
The left tooth seems better today, it’s the right side today upper roof of mouth pain and my right inner cheek where I bit it yesterday that’s giving me bother. :-\
My poor dentist has no idea, she can’t understand why I’m in the pain I’m in. She was also confused as my gum started bleeding. She said it really shouldn’t be do that. We agreed to give it another two weeks and she will have a look again. She doesn’t want to put me on antibiotics again yet, which is a good thing as my stomach is still recovering from the last two.
I also had another crappie night sleep, went to bed at 8.30pm, felled to sleep after 2am and was up at 4.30am :'(

Get some live yoghurt for the gut, eat large spoonfuls several times a day. ABs strip the digestive system of good bacteria, LIVE yoghurt will help to replace some.
Is there an abscess if there's a lump? Is it squidgy to touch? Do U use mouth washes to keep the whole area clean, as well as tip-pee brushes between all the teeth?

I am sorry to hear of your tooth/mouth problems. Just wanted to suggest Optibac probiotics for those on antibiotics. These were suggested to me to take when I had 5 lots of antibiotics for teeth and gum problems, with the resultant stomach problems/thrush. They really helped.

Last year I had what dentist and GP thought was TN - dentist ruled out any underlying dental cause. It lasted for a month or so and nearly caused me to vomit with some of the pain, brief as it was, and then just disappeared and hasn’t returned! So I never did get to the bottom of it. It was before I started on HRT and my hormones were probably all over the place, but have no idea if that was linked.
I just hope it never returns. Awful, awful pain. Hope you get yours resolved.

CLKD can’t have yogurt as I’m lactose intolerant, but I am have coconut yogurt with probiotics in it everyday. I’m also taking lactose free probiotics everyday too. No it’s no a abscess, I understand they are extremely painful, my pain can come and go even though I can feel the bump. And my dentist has checked it out.
Haydo can I ask how long did you have stomach problems after antibiotics? I’m find my rumbling stomach comes on in the evening and early hours in the morning, goes when I poop. Last night I took Buscopan (12.30am) which never works for IBS but did help with the stomach rumbling.
Today my pain was right side inner cheek and at 1pm my left side which always feels right up to where my tooth used to be, got better at dinner time. I’ll wonder if it’s sinus infection with air and infection pocket from my removal of my tooth?
Seeing a movie tomorrow, gold class theatre, early anniversary date, so hopefully that will be a nice distraction :)

Trigenimal neuralgia hits without warning. It would floor me. I had a few weeks of it after dental treatment, took a while to realise what it was. A bit of jarring set it off >:(. There are a lot of nerves and small blood vessels in the face so any impact may well niggle !

Hi Lyncola
The first 2 lots of antibiotics my stomach was awful and continued to be for a couple of weeks, when I started the next lot of antibiotics. That was when I was recommended the Probiotics. I took them with my 3rd lot but took 2 cartons, carrying on with them after I’d finished the antibiotics (there are 10 in a packet, one a day) and my stomach was much better. For my 4th and 5th lot of antibiotics I took them from day 1 and I was so much better. Worth every penny. I keep a packet in the cupboard now, just in case I have to take antibiotics again. It might be worth you taking them, even if you’re not taking antibiotics at present. I also take Optibac for women now, one a day, to keep my gut healthy.

Left side all day today :'(
Can range from pain level 5 to 10. Pain comes from where my tooth use to be to the front.
Movie was great, had the whole cinema to ourselves. Just wish I was in pain.
Is it worth me seeing my doctor, as she was the one that put me on the second antibiotics? Or just leave it to the dentist to help me?
-
I suggest pain relief? There are a lot of nerves in the face which can radiate pain.
-
I’ve been too stubborn to use pain killers CLKD, Tomorrow will be 7 weeks since the removal, with 6 weeks I have been using pain medication of some kind. If the pain stops me from sleeping I will get up and take some ibuprofen and Panadol.
Going to bed soon 8.15pm here in Australia ::)
-
So got my doctors appointment tomorrow morning, I rang the dentist to tell them I’m seeing my doctor and my pain is still bad and now in my left cheek (like sinus).
I asked them is there anything I could asked the doctor for that would help them? They don’t think a MRI or CT scan would show much difference, but are happy to meet my doctor (they know her same building together) and discuss my situation and where too next.
It’s so frustrating to be inconsistent pain and no one knows what’s wrong. I’ll might have to except the fact that it’s all in my head?
Will update after my appointment
-
Up to 90 headaches and facial pains today :o
And today it’s my right side roof pain and side of mouth pain?
My doctor has put me on panafcort (steroid) two tablets for three days then to report back to her on Friday. It will remove the sinus congestion as shown on the MRI, I think she thinking it may help with the teeth with the removal of the sinus?
Time will tell
-
Pain all day on my left side? Woke up with it. Settle down now in the evening?
-
So went to the doctor again today, she doesn’t think it’s sinus related after being on antibiotics for two weeks and panafcort for three days. Constant pain again today on my left side and more sore now as I was rubbing the inside of my mouth trying to locate the pain.
My doctor wants me to talk to the neurologist (4 weeks until my appointment) and see what he thinks. It’s going to be a long 4 weeks. Next Friday I’ve got my dentist appointment, but I’ll don’t think she going to be able to help me.
-
What happened to them discussing your pain together ::)
Steroids can settle any residual pain but you may find that you are hungry ........
Removal of a sinus is a huge operation - it's there for a reason. May give U more problems that you already have.
Do you have any neck problems (I may have asked B4?)
-
Yes you have asked about neck problems before, and no I don’t. My doctor doesn’t want to talk to my dentist? No removal of sinus, if the problem was sinus related with a removal of a tooth, the operation for that is four weeks of antibiotics and a operation of gum being removed and plucking up the hole where the sinus infection is. But both my doctor and dentist don’t think it’s that.
Pain all day again on the left side, pain goes from top of roof of mouth right at the front, where my tooth used to be and my cheek. I’m up to 36 hours of continuous pain. The level goes up and down, usually worse then I’m more active. I’m guessing this problem will go on for many months until someone works out what’s wrong or I will get sent to different specialist and pay money I don’t have and wait months to see them.
I’ll don’t take any pain medication, I just put up with it. Because I know I can’t take Panadol or ibuprofen everyday.

Just a update eight and half weeks since my teeth was pulled out
Saw my doctor on Thursday, she thinks my facial pain and teeth problems are nerve related not sinus?
And guess what, sinus today, whenever someone tells me I don’t have sinus, I get sinus.
And today I saw my dentist, she thinks the pain on my roof of my mouth is sinus related. She says from the X-ray she can see sinus and nerves running along the top of my teeth.
But the good news is where my wisdom teeth were removed seems to be getting better and I feel normal. Now I just have to get rid of my headaches and facial pains. In a couple of days I will be starting 25mg of amitriptyline. And have got my neurologist appointment in two and half weeks. Fingers crossed that there will be no lockdown and I get to see him face to face.
Fingers crossed that shrosphirelass and pamabz see improvement with their teeth and facial pains
-
Glad things are a bit improved. I have been good, daren't say it, but Im really hoping the last tretment and antibis have done the trick. Just got to have the two teeth filled and crowned now.
Hopefully the amitriptyline will continue the improvement.
-
I’m glad things are improving for you shrosphirelass, it’s now 7pm for me and I’ve had 106 facial pain and headaches. Today I’ve started the 25mg Amitriptyline.
My teeth seem back to normal, but on Saturday night I noticed my roof of my mouth was sore. I can see four red marks, I don’t think I’d cut myself, as I would of felt it happen. It doesn’t look like an ulcers?
So after 8 weeks of recovering from my teeth, I’m now in pain to eat :o
From the Dr Google any mouth problems take 10-14 days to recover and gargle salt water.
So fingers crossed that it gets better if not I will see my doctor.
Hope everything goes well with your teeth shrosphirelass :)
