Does anyone else experience this or know anything about it?
-
Hi, I haven't noticed this, but I do seem to do better with men's deodorant in the last few years. I'm 5 years post-menopause.
I use the one the boys have in their bathroom. Can make one feel a little butch. ;D

I have a thread: "Oh ehhhhhh " : started several years ago. I could smell me but DH said I smelt 'normal'; what ever that might have been ::)
-
Hi Minusminnie. No, I hardly eat any meat. Great you found that out for you, though!
Thanks.
-
Red meat slows my bowel by about 3 days >:( ::) .

Am bumping this up in case anyone else finds similar or has any thoughts? I think you could be right, CLKD, that I'm smelling myself, but no-one else does. So, it's as if I'm "emitting" something through the pores, maybe not even sweat per se. It's bizarre, but not a nice thing; poignant and very masculine. :-\
-
We excrete via the pores, i.e. curry whiffs ........ did U read my thread? I haven't smelt me recently 8)
-
Yes, I read it. Thanks. I suppose my detective is to the fore, fascinated and curious.....if somewhat embarrassed!
-
If others don't step back in a hurry: and most of us are still wearing masks ;) : don't worry too much. Most people I meet with in crowded situations I'm never going to see again so if they catch a whiff of me ...... I don't use anti-perspirant unless it's a Posh Do. I try to keep underarm hair trimmed so that it doesn't trap bacteria.

The skin sweats naturally. It is unlikely that any product will last long enough as we shed skin daily. Not all at once, obviously or wouldn't we look a sight ;D. Well I wouldn't .......... :whist:
Even 'viscopaste' which was used for fractures rather than Plaster of Paris didn't stop hairs growing on the legs :o ....... not an easy product to remove!

Interesting thought, Minusminnie. I haven't started using the emollient yet. It was prescribed by the menopause clinic as I'm so sensitive to anything remotely soapy or scented, even Epsom Salts now. The "aroma" is the weirdest thing ever. Too much testosterone? Pheromones (new relationship)? Hmmmm.....🤔
-
Nowt is daft, silly or taboo on here! Every suggestion might help someone so don't be put off mentioning your thoughts!
-
Absolutely, CLKD!
Minusminnie, you've actually triggered some creative thought on whether emollient is even the answer. I haven't noted anyone else mention using it!!!!! Wonder why? Images of being glued to the bath are amusing me! So, thank you!!!!!
-
what's in the emollient ? sounds like something 1 would slap on walls ;)
-
Will have a look later.....💚

Problem solved!!!! I had been using an aluminium-free deodorant. Apparently, it's like a detox from anti-perspirant and gets you back to your "true self". Scary! It's the aluminium that controls the moisture levels and duration of freshness. Without it, bluntly, one honks! So, the dilemma lies between all the scaremongering about aluminium or honking. Decisions, decisions! 😂
-
OK - let's get English back to being logical
Deodorant - deodorises, i.e. stops smell at source. Which are caused by specific bacterias on that particular area of the body.
Anti-perspirant - covers over the pores which cause perspiration; pores are the natural way of cooling our bodies so that we don't over heat
Decide: how much do you sweat ? I rarely do. I use an anti-perspirant at weddings, funerals but not otherwise ;)
-
Yeah, I break into sweats often, a condition-related thing.
-
How about an anti-perspirant for under arms and let the rest of the body glow as it's designed to?
-
Yup, that's what I was doing before buying the aluminium-free version. An interesting process!

I grab 'dove' through force of habit ::)
