Title: Silly question. Is it important to take progesterone with oestrogen? I am 43
Post by: loonarider on April 07, 2021, 06:45:48 PM
Hi,

Is progesterone necessary to take with oestrogen or can one just take oestrogen? I wonder as there is a history of clots in my family and don't want to put myself at risk. Is anyone using oestrogen patches and a mirena IUS? There seems to be no risk with the latter?

Thanks

Yes, if you have a uterus then progesterone is necessary. There is no clot risk with transdermal oestrogen.
