I intend to stay away from people though, until more have been vaccinated. At least DH and I were lucky not 2 B in contact so that we had to isolate.
Many who have been unable to go out and about may well have anxiety at the very thought of 'freedom'!

I think many of us might feel very overstimulated by this "freedom". I know I shall. The very few different, renewed scenarios I've found myself in have proved exhausting. We need to ease ourselves back, not to be overwhelmed in ways we couldn't have anticipated. Important to remember that this time, too, is unprecedented for us and we need to adjust and adapt with care.

Not the same thought patterns as those who were 'let out' in the last 48 hours! if meetings in the Parks are anything to go by.
Any bets on when the next lockdown will begin: I think mid-August early September.

Good luck with the re-opening. We (Ontario) are in a 3rd wave and there may be school closures after the Spring break..which was moved from March 12 to April 12th. Some things have been opened since the beginning of March but the government is imploring people not to go anywhere over Easter weekend. Seems the cases have gone up a lot after any holiday so far. Another lockdown for some areas is being considered.

Those that had to shield/isolate are allowed out from mid-night. Not to mix though ......... not sure if they need to wear a mask but in such situations, I would do.
I think there will be more surges ........

Having shielded throughout ,I am ridiculously nervous about going out. I haven’t been in a supermarket or a shop for over a year .
My first outing tomorrow is to the dentist

We have staff at school that have been shielding, there will be no gradual easing back in tomorrow, straight back into class. The ones I've spoken to can't wait to get back.

Take it steady everyone - the first time I went into a supermarket after 3 months of not going out, I nearly fell over!!! I think it was sensory overload - so many people, things, noises, movements, lights...I got really dizzy.
I think it will take a long time to build up to where we once were, even when all restrictions are over, so small, steady steps is the way forward.
I do feel for those who haven't been out at all for a year though - I know someone who hasn't left her home for 12 months and am wondering how on earth she is going to cope the first time she goes out.

Yes, I was like that. So nervous around people at first, convinced I would catch it.
After a couple times of going out, it became less and less.
Just stay calm, wear a mask, use hand sanitizer, ( I wore gloves, and still used sanitizer) 😆 then washed my hands as soon as I got home.
Just do small trips first, say, to the small shop across the road if you have one. It sounds funny, but, it can be overwhelming.
But I would say, if the anxiety is there, try and still go out, hit it head on, cuz it’ll only get worse if you don’t. My anxiety was bad at first, but I thought, no, I’m going to do this, deep breaths, and I did.

My 91 year old mum is a shielder, the only place she's been in 12 months is my house as we are in a bubble. She has gone from living independently to a lot frailer and needing more help and I blame lockdown. I have just self isolated for 10 days due to my daughter's family having Covid, and I am the childcare, and I can't wait to get out tomorrow.

I thought a garden centre may be the easiest way to start!
I’m worried about all the new restrictions I read about, one way systems, Perspex screens, card payments, washing trolleys, etc, it’s all overwhelming at once

Certainly light can be a problem for me.
We've had supermarkets open all the way through. And garden centres. So I have eased my way in .......
However: obviously those who went out and about 2 parks, leaving litter++ behind, should BE ASHAMED :bang: :bang: :bang:

That’s the mentality nowadays tho.
When asked, one young bloke said he didn’t care about spreading the virus. He just wanted to do what he wanted to, and that was going out with his mates.
Yeah, and leaving a bloody mess everywhere! 😡

Our third lockdown starts Saturday at 12:01am for at least a month. Will find out later today if the schools close as of Monday or, if the planned spring break will go ahead next week. The school boards have asked the students to take all their belongings home, just in case. I will also find out if I'm going to be laid off again.
Good luck to you if you're venturing out. It can be pretty unnerving. :-\

Popped out for milk but every shop had long queues so we will Make Do!

I read some good advice at the end of the last lockdown which stressed the need to take things at a pace you were comfortable with - so if you feel overwhelmed just going outside your front door, make it your aim to be comfortable just stepping outside and then back in and build up from there. If you can't cope with going to do a food shop, just walk in and straight back out again. When you're comfortable doing that, go in to buy one item. Gradually build up until you can do a 'normal' shop. Same with meeting people - if you can't cope meeting someone for a walk, arrange to have them chat to you over your front gate for a few minutes.
The article was saying if you push yourself too far, you panic, feel overwhelmed and get even more stressed about going out next time. But if you do tiny steps and encourage yourself to go a little further each time, you will make much faster progress.
