Please help anyone. Feel so down and heart broken. I have been using vagifem 2x week. In the last month I have had 3 fluconazole tablets as its caused thrush. I am so sore and dry. I have av. The consultant will be giving me a telephone consultation next Thursday. I am 57 in sep no other form of hrt x
-
Same as you, just on vagifem, I too had a very uncomfortable experience with it,didn't seem to be helping at all, came off it and of course got all the other symptoms back,so reloaded for the two weeks and this time round I'm fine but I take it every other day, instead of just twice a week,it may be that you need to take it more often,I know some ladies on here use it every day,it's quite safe to do so as it's a very low topical dose,if you don't want to wait to speak to the dr,call your pharmacist, let us know how you get on x
-
I know but don't know if I can use them with the thrush. I am at my wits end with it all. Doc ain't done a lot for me xx
-
Was the thrush diagnosed by a vaginal swab?
VA can cause similar symptoms. If 'vagifem' doesn't help, swap for 'ovestin'. Same idea, using every night for 2-3 weeks, then as necessary. Some require 'vagifem' nightly as it's such a small amount of active ingredient. The fillers can cause irritation though.
Do U have KY Jelly to hand, if so put a little amount into the vagina a few times a day to keep the area moist. Dryness = itching.
-
No the doctor seen it. I have never had a swab. I am gonna ask for 1 thou. Cant handle how it's making me feel. I have just put some yes vm in. To see if it helps x
-
4 me it was like razor blades :o up there >:( and my GP gave me pessaries for 8 months which were discontinued: due to lack of demand : now 'ovestin'. It's about keeping inside and out moist enough to stop the lips getting stuck which impacts all the way up the vaginal tract.
Some find a dilator of use too, to insert gradually further and further to encourage muscles to 'work'. Keep away from 'replens' as there are fillers in the compound which may cause irritation.
Do you have a cheesy discharge which smells fishy, chaceteristic of thrush. When I stopped The Pill I had my 1st attack of thrush, an itch so high up that I couldn't reach to scratch. I was given a pessary by the Gyane Registerstra but can't remember what - that was in 1981.
If you have a need2P feeling, take some 'nurofen' or similar regularly.
-
Hi I only have thick discharge very much lumpy. But this time not as many lumps in it. I am unsure about carrying on with vagifem. With having the thrush. Any body please help. Was told in now about an. So fare the doctor put me on vagifem then change for a wk on blissel. Was on blissel 1 week got the thrush told to stop for a wk put me back on vagifem and thrush again. I have had 3 fluconazole tablets in a month. I am really struggling x
-
Hope you can understand my message. I feel as thou my gp dosnt know what to do. It has really crippled my mental health. I have felt suicidal. The mental health team has been involved. The problem is I have tender breasts. Mammogram and scan fine just calcification and I don't think they want me on hrt. Keep getting refused. I asked for a patch cos they did put me on kilovance lasted 24 days and it burnt my lady bits x
-
Sounds like you've been back and forth with a few things in quite a short period of time. It may be that the vaginal flora doesn't know what's happening to it and rebelling. How would it be to try natural yoghurt for a while and maybe taking something to help with rebalancing the flora? I'm sure folk will be along to suggest methods for that, but meantime you'll find the yoghurt soothing and neutralising. Good luck!
-
I don't have an itch or any thing just the burn and what was like discharge ty x
-
The discharge could be fillers in Vagifem. You may need more than 2x a week. I use 5x a week just to keep burning at bay. Also Vagifem takes A LONG time to work. I think some ladies think it will work immediately. For me, it took close to a year and I still have problems sitting.
Keep on with it. I think Thrush is one of the side effects of Vagifem INITIALLY but once your body gets used to the estrogen, you might find all is good.
Hope you get it sorted soon. It is a brutal side of menopause.
-
Ty do you suggest I should carry on with the vagifem. Despite the thrush. This is all new to me x
-
It's new to us all ::).
I would give the 'vagifem' a try. Putting it in at a different time to the thrush treatment, i.e. if you put that in the morning, then use 'vagifem' at night. Use the latter every night for 2-3 weeks.
It can be a nuisance until symptoms are under control.
LIVE yoghurt is a good idea, eaten and applied. Make sure it is Live as 'natural' isn't always. I use Greek yoghurt when ever I have thrush or prior to elective surgery. Several spoon fulls each day and lay on a bath towel and apply gently in2 the vagina. It has helped me until I was prescribed 'ovestin'.
-
As clkd says,it may not be thrush but just typical VA symptoms, I had a swab done and it came back as thrush and doc said to still take the vagifem. Have you tried ph balance pessaries? They are also a great help
-
I have used Vagifem whilst suffering with thrush, thanks to 11 weeks of antibiotics for breast infection.
It could be VA though as i kept getting fobbed off by GP saying i has thrush but it was VA as swabs came back negative.
I am same age as you, i use Vagifem every day, i would do a two week reload and then up your week maintenance dose.

I am just so worried. I have had enough my anxity is through the roof. I have put some yes vm by syringe this morning. As it's so uncomfortable I just want it all to stop and get my life bk. Every day is a struggle. So when can I use another pessary as they say you can't do it with moisturiser I just need a friend 😪😪
-
I need a friend to get me through this
-
I am so worried and anxious

Stop the YESvm and use the 'vagifem' which replaces oestrogen gradually into the vaginal tissue. YES won't replace oestrogen. Cleanse yourself gently and pat dry, then in an hour put in a 'vagifem' dose. Another one at bed time.
Nothing will help immediately. Oestrogen levels drop off gradually so it mayB 2-3 weeks B4 you notice improvement. Once the 'vagifem' works then apply YES on the outer labia and continue with the VA treatment, every night if necessary.
Take some pain relief at lunch time which will act on any background irritation.
-
Ty but I don't know if I can use vagifem today as it may not stick with inserting the yes this morning. I have done a dose high up x
-
It won't come out, some of us sadly have to go through the discomfort to get to the relief but if you increase your vagifem it should work, also please try the ph balance pessaries from Boots
-
It won't make symptoms any worse! Did U take my advice of earlier?
-
Insert the Vagifem stick up halfway, i do that anyway as i seem to get better results. If it doesn't stick because of the YES product it is not going to do any harm anyway.
I get irritation from YES, stop everything and just use Vagifem, my meno specialist prescribed 2X Vagifem a day for the first two weeks of treatment and it got it under control, obviously ask your GP first if you wish to do that.
Also what are you washing with? No baths, take showers and just use tepid water to wash with for now. Also if you wash your hair in shower i would do that over a basin for now.
-
I don't wash my hair in shower. I wash in basin. I use tepid water on the lady garden. So I can deffo use vagifem now x
-
So when can I use moisturiser I am really sorry ladies. I just can't handle this at all. I still feel sore even with the vagifem that's why I need yes vm. But I know you not suppose to use at same time I really appreciate your help with your comments ty so much xxx
-
......... and breath!
Read back through the threads and take from the responses what you require. You do not need the YESvm until symptoms are controlled with appropriate vaginal atrophy treatment, i.e. 'vagifem' or 'ovestin'. Either of these will be more effective than other products that do not replace oestrogen levels.
-
Stop using any moisturisers, you may well be reacting to them. Just use the Vagifem for now.
-
How long have you been using Vagifem, are you just using 2 a week.
I would do a two week reload and then try a higher maintenance dose, i have never coped on two a week.
You could also ask for Ovestin cream to be prescribed and just use that sparingly on the outside bits along with Vagifem.
I know lots of ladies in here use moisturisers but i can't as i react, you may be the same. I do understand how sore you are, i struggled to get VA treatment and my whole day revolved around my sore bits, couldn't sleep, walk or sit it was miserable.
But i got it under control and only have odd flare now, although i did go on systemic HRT as well.

:thankyou: Tinkerbell
-
No just 2 a week. I feel as thou my legs are burning and my bum. Ty for all your advice. I feel so stupid and scared no one has really talked to me about it. My head is in a mess. I am so sorry for all the questions xxx
-
Don't apologize. Many of us have been where you are and those same 'many' found relief. Vagifem does work but it is not an instantaneous cure all. It takes a LONG TIME but if you keep up with the Vagifem you will get there. Agree with all the ladies who responded to you. You need more Vagifem and as others have mentioned, get some estrogen cream and use that on the outer bits. Keep in mind Vagifem will start to 'wake up' all the lady bits so do expect some stinging which is your nerves being aroused from a deep sleep😉.
-
Ty is it normal to feel the burning near your bum cheeks. And legs with all this xxxx
-
Hi Rhinoslass, hope you are feeling a bit better! I found this thread after searching for Yes VM. I have had VA for 4 years now and am again in a flare up for unknown reasons. Came back to this site as I love the kindness and friendship offered even though i live in 🇨🇦 After lots of reading I figured out that the burning is from the outside on the vulva, i think! Gyno says it looks thin and dry and gave me estrogen cream for outside. I also bought the Yes VM as it gets the best reviews. Along with vagifem 3x week I also take an HRT pill once a day. Here in Canada gyno wont give me more vagifem, crazy.
So the Yes cream is good and I think will help moving forward however I think I need more estrogen!? The estring gets good reviews and is the only HRT that says heals bladder issues, maybe will try that. I guess what I am trying to say is hang in there, you may need to try different things and get to see what works best for you. From what I can tell you have some excellent resources over there for this matter so try to find someone knowledgeable and caring, we have so many twats over here😩
Take care and feel free to reach out at any time XO

If urine is acidic and dribble down the cheeks it will cause soreness.
Up the product to every night for 2-3 weeks to see if symptoms improve Rhinolass
