Title: Starting oestrogel and utrogestan - a couple of "simple" questions!
Post by: GetStuffedPeri on March 24, 2021, 05:15:39 PM
Hi - my wife has today been prescribed estrogel and utrogestan - 3 x pumps of estrogel and 1 x oral utrogestan every day (conti regime).  She has been switched from Evorel Conti (after 7 months on them) due to needing (we think) more estrogen.

We really want to get started on it tomorrow, but just need a bit of advice on the following please (I know there are 100s of forums about this HRT combo and I'm sorry to start another one but I'm really too exhausted to try and trawl through everything again to be honest!):

1.  Should she apply all 3 pumps at the same time?
2.  What time of day is best to take the utrogestan?
3.  Where exactly do you apply the gel?

We are holding out every hope that this works as in the GP's words, "he doesn't know where to go from here" if it doesn't (he is a wonderful doctor - we've been really lucky).  He won't prescribe testosterone until we have tried this regime and then had a private consultation with a recommendation from the doctor for a testogel prescription etc.

Thank you!  :)

MayB put the names of the products into the search box to see what pops up?  make notes ;-)

I was wondering about you last week  ::).  It's the Trial and Error that can be so tiring!

I’ve been on this before - meant to be the gold standard my gynae said, but unfortunately I couldn’t absorb the gel well.
I was told to apply to legs (though some do arms).
Basically the thighs where there is more fat, but it shouldn’t be used anywhere around the public area, or torso for that matter. You aren’t supposed to rub it in, just sort of swipe it over. I found the drying difficult in my humid climate.
Compared to eg Femoston, there wasn’t much sedation, so in the morning is fine.

Hi
Take the utrogestan at night on an empty stomach.

Apply the Oestrogel all at once in a morning. You can put on inner thighs or outer arms and shoulders. Put 2 pumps on one place and one on the other. Allow to dry ( only takes a few mins ) before putting clothes on.

I’ve been on this combination for 3 years and it works for me x

This ^^^^^

I switched to this regime just about 2 months ago and it is working well for me so far. I use 3 pumps of gel in the morning, one on each inner thigh and one on my outer arm.  I take 2 tablets at bedtime for 12 days out of 28.  I sleep like a log on those 12 nights and also have super vivid dreams!!!

Good luck!
