Hello
I'm on HRT (gel) and utrogestan for days 15-21 of my 'cycle'..
Mood changes have been my worst symptom and i've (stupidly) read up a lot on the progesterone element of HRT and this seems to be the one that makes people feel awful.
I'm also aware i might be sensitive to it as i felt amazing during pregnancy then suffered badly with PND.
Thanks in advance ladies.

It might be better not to go into it with lots of stories from others about how they got on - just try it and see how you feel, otherwise you may end up anticipating side-effects that aren't actually appropriate. Maybe compare notes with others after you've tried it for a couple of months?

I totally agree with that!
I tried Utrogestron last year for 6 months and had horrible symptoms including low mood! After several other attempts in HRT I found a nutritional specialist and restarted Utrogestron with great success! No low mood what’s so ever!
Give it a try and don’t forget most people come in here when they are not having a great time but there are many more success stories out there
Good Luck

Sorry to hop on here, but I'm struggling a bit with it - not as bad as at the beginning, nothing major, just very tired from it.
Flan747 - what did your nutrition person recommend that helped you with your second time round on Utrogestan?
That makes sense to me - being aware of your nutrition.

Hi there
The Utrogestan makes me sleepy (fall asleep in approx 20 mins of taking it) and I tend to find my joints are less achy when on the estrogen only - but not as achy as before HRT. Other than that I find it fine. I get pmt type symptoms a day or so after stopping the Utro, and I get the odd hot ‘wave’ (not quite a flush) while on the Utro.
Hope this helps

I have been taking Magnesium, Ashwagandha and a healthy eating plan so my blood sugars do not fluctuate! My anxiety has improved heaps because of this! I am now just understanding after 2 years that just HRT is not just the answer for slot of us! We need to look at our lifestyles too to get a good balance
Hope this helps

Flan747, that's really interesting and helpful. I've been thinking about the Ashwagandha idea too. Need to research it a bit, but that makes sense.
I do have a pretty good diet and supps -take magnesium too, but something ain't right.
Thanks very much for getting back to me. x
ps, I say a pretty good diet, with blow-out type exceptions - I think I need to monitor that and see what happens when I eat badly and how it affects the utro. I take it vaginally though every other day....
Anyways, thanks again x

Beanie hat, I'm on a similar regime but using patches. This is my first month and I haven't got to the Utrogestan phase yet but I'll be happy to compare notes when I have.
I've also read lots of posts from people who seem to suffer a lot with Utrogestan so I'm equally as wary about it :-\

Hell ladies.
I just posted a question about Utrogestan and then noticed this thread, it's very interesting to read your experiences.
My question is slightly different in that I was keen to compare the effects of Utro taken orally with food or on an empty stomach as advised in the leaflet. I am one of those people who always has a snack before I go to bed, infact I cannot sleep at all unless I have a bowl of cereal so an empty stomach at bedtime is never going to happen lol!
Like many of you my mood issues are my problem and I worry that Utro will make these worse, especially if a greater amount of the prog is absorbed with food.
I think my diet is pretty good, I am whole food, plant based so I cook from scratch and avoid processed and sugary food.
Nothing is ever straightforward with the Meno lark is it!
Wishing you well ladies.

I always have a snack before bedtime as it controls my blood sugars during the night and I also take it orally and have had no issues
