Title: Patches to gel to.... what next?
Post by: Sedge on March 16, 2021, 08:39:49 PM
Just wondered if you could help me with some advice.
I started off in Evorel conti, suited me fine at first but then oestrogen levels dropped so it was thought I wasn’t absorbing so switches to sandrena gel 1mg.
Oestrogen levels went up to 470 which were great. Latest bloods show a level of 37, it looks as though I’ve stopped absorbing the gel.
Just wondering what my next option might be, tried increasing sandrena to 1.5mg but migraines kicked in.
I think I really need to switch but really not keen on tablets. Are there any other options?

Oestrogel? Or a higher oestrogen only patch with separate progesterone eg utrogeston or mirena. I don't know how much is in sandrena but evorel is 50mg which is a medium dose. The equivalent is 2 pumps oestrogel and I was told by a specialist I could use up to to 6 pumps. I started on evorel in peri and am now on 4 pumps gel. Needing more as your ovaries pack up is normal.

Thanks. Maybe I need to try oestrogel then and see if that works better for me than the sandrena. Do you think the absorption might be better?
I’m only 45 so really want to try and get this sorted to protect my bone health.
Maybe it’s just a case of keeping a close eye on this. I have a menopause clinic telephone appt next week so that quite well timed.
It’s frustrating as I just think I’m sorted and then have to change around.
