I’ve just started HRT a few days ago and have been prescribed 2 pumps of Estrogel and 200mg of Virginal Utrogestan.
Most the posts I’ve read seem that the usual dosage is 200mg if oral and 100mg vaginally
I am peri (had a couple of 1 day really light periods last year)
Has anyone else been prescribed this dosage?

Hello rachie, this is exactly what I’ve just collected, just wondering if you found out the answer as I’ve also read 100mg vaginally too? I know this was two months ago how are you getting on with it x

Hi Rachie
I found that if I took 100mg orally a day it was too much for me; with 2 pumps of estrogel. I changed to 100mg daily (vaginal route), but even that leaves me sleepy. I am now on 100mg every second day, as advised by consultant, and just trialling it (under supervision). I find that progesterone makes me sleepy, and my muscles are very lax, so for me finding the right dose is very important. I do believe it differs for each women, as everyone absorbs estrogen differently, and reacts to progesterone differently. It can be cumulative too.

The manufacturer thinks it's the same dose whichever way you take it, newsonhealth thinks you can halve it if used vaginally. If you off piste it might be wise to have a scan after a few months to make sure your lining isn't building up.
