Title: Hormone levels when taking HRT?
Post by: Meno44 on February 12, 2021, 01:49:21 PM
Just wanted to know if you can find out if your hormone levels are ok when taking HRT?
I’m 44 and on evorel conti for the past 4 months. They have sorted out a few of the symptoms I had (hot flushes and vaginal dryness) but some other symptoms remain.
I want to know if there’s a way to check your hormone levels like a blood test maybe?
Thanks

Hi!  blood tests don't show a true reading especially if someone is using HRT.  Hormones rise and fall and the ovaries keep producing oestrogen for years.  4 months is early days really.

Do you keep a food/symptom/mood diary?  It can be useful.  Which symptom would you like to ease?

Browse round.   :bang:  read the 'bladder issues' and 'vaginal atrophy' threads, 4warned is 4armed  ;)

The Menopause Specialist I saw said it was best to be governed by symptom control, but the blood level for me to aim for is around 300 pmol/L
I’ve just had a blood test as I think my level is too low- phone call with the GP next week to chat about it.

Thanks for your replies.
My remaining symptoms are digestive issues and bad anxiety. I’ve tried anti depressants but not had much luck with them.
I think I’ll speak to my GP about getting a blood test.
