Title: Hrt and vaginal/bladder issues, how long to start working?
Post by: silverstar on February 01, 2021, 03:10:48 PM
Hi there,
Have just been given oestrogen for urinary and vaginal soreness, started this 2 weeks ago. Does anyone know when I should start to see improvements please?

Soon.   R U using the medication every night?  If I feel the need to pee I take 2 capsules of Nurofen 3 times a day for a couple of days to ease that sensation.  Sometimes ladies need 'ovestin' on the outer labia area to keep it supple.

Yes, I have estrogel which I smear on my thigh, 2 pumps each morning. No Ovestin or Vagifem as allergic.

If you are allergic to both Vagifem and Ovestin, there are other options for local oestrogen. These are listed on the main page under Treatments. My guess is that the Estring might help. Systemic oestrogen may or may not work for VA as some people need both. Hopefully it will work in your case, but one cannot say how long it might take.
