Hi all, I'm sorry, it's me again 🙄.
I've been 9 weeks on Evoral Sequi and I'm feeling so low in mood, snuffily with loose bowels and anxiety in between.
I actually improved week 4 onwards generally and started to feel better but over the last week or so, I seem to have plummeted. Low mood wasn't too bad.
I took my patch off last night as the palpitations and anxiety were awful 🙄 I'm due to start the combined patch today again, but I'm scared silly.
My patches kept falling off for the past 3 weeks or so in the shower and I have been replacing it straight away but I have seemed to have lost track with the days when to change it after, I've been 1 or 2 days out, maybe that's rocked the boat?...🤔 xx
The patches have also started to irritated my skin quite bad.
I'm so scared about this. Please help xx
-
Please can someone give me some advice? I'm so desperate now 😥 xx
-
Hi Unicorn - I'm sorry I don't know enough to give you any advice but I just wanted to send you a virtual hug whilst you are waiting to hear from the ladies who do know. X

Awww! Thank you so much Deeble! Back at you 😚😚

Please anyone? Xxx

Please, I'm desperate! Xx

Hi Unicorn. I'm surprised your patches kept falling off as Evorel are usually excellent at sticking. I often can't get mine off! Do you follow the application advice exactly and, also, where are you placing them?
As for the rash this shows you have an allergy to the adhesive and as the hormones are contained in the adhesive this is not good for your absorption. In the patient info leaflet it mentions this and the advice is to change to a different type of patch as all adhesives are different.
Have you always had palpitations? What is it that has scared you so badly? Also have you had a withdrawal bleeds while on the patches?
Taz x

Oh thank you Taz! I'm placing them on my upper thighs, alternating each time, but replacing it as it falls off a lot, but have been out of sync 1 or 2 days doing this. I'm frightened that my mood has been so low and I'm going to end up in a psychiatric ward 😥 I know I'm not going to do anything silly though, but I'm scared I'm not going to feel normal again 😥. I'm already on 50mg of Sertraline, have been on different ADs for years to keep me good and they have worked... weren't so effective when I had PND twice though, but that got better.
This meno lark really kicked off about 18 months ago with facial flushing and awful palpitations. I've been checked out for those and nothing major, was told that it was the start of peri. My bleeding has been all over the place on the patches, but not sure if that could be meno too, but was quite regular before. I bled for two weeks 3 weeks ago and spoke to a nurse and she said it was normal and it would settle.
I feel like I'm back to square one..... ripped the last Estrogen only patch off last night, as I thought maybe due to replacing the patch so often when it fell off, I'd unbalanced my hormones ?? Anyway, I've now replaced it with the Conti patch on time xx

It's easy to get the patches out of sync. I found that they didn't work so well on my upper thigh so I put mine on the top of the buttock. You need to make sure that you skin is completely dry - I never replace mine straight after a shower - with no body lotion etc. on it. I find that if I hold it tight against the skin with my warm palm for longer than the time specified then this works a treat.
If you are only nine weeks in then you do need to give it longer - maybe even a bit longer than the usual twelve weeks if you have been missing patch change dates etc. If you had regular bleeding before starting HRT then it will take a while for the hormones to begin to work together - not sure how to term that - so that your bleeding happens on time - usually at the beginning of the new box of patches.
I hope it all begins to work soon.

Thank you so much Taz, I'll carry on for now and be a bit more careful and take your suggestions on board 😚 I think I feel better with the combined patch, which is odd, but I can't really tell. I'll give it a while longer on this one. If this make doesn't work, I'm at a loss on what to do.... are there many more to try? I'm losing hope xx

Unicorn I’m on my 7th week of these plus an extra 50 patch I feel just like you :-\ it’s a total nightmare I actually ripped the extra patch off Thursday morning because I feel exhausted no appetite dizzy very low mood period type pains throbbing back ache & generally just ill! All I want to do is curl up into a ball, I’m going to stick with it for 3 months without adding an extra patch if I can. I agree that I feel better on the combined patch too which I know is odd.

Hello Itwillpass, omg, I could have written what you have put 😚 you poor thing! I feel generally yuck with see sawing anxiety, palpitations, shivering, low mood and lack of appetite but my snuffly nose is better, which is a bonus 😁.... I've hardly done a thing today, just showered, laid about, washed up a bit and desperately been googling answers... I'm so scared as I obsessively worry that I'm going down the depression path and I have read that some people don't get better from it 😥.
I know I'm being really silly about googling and worrying myself silly about mental illness.
I live with my children and ex, but fair play, he has been amazing of late.
Can I ask Itwillpass, why did you start taking HRT? What symptoms did you want help with? I really hope you feel better soon xxxx
-
First started Femoston 2/10 tablets August last year only took for 6 weeks had awful bloating digestive issues, tried Evorel Sequi didn’t really do much so recently added another patch but not sure if too much! I’m thinking am I sensitive to hrt, main issues are crushing fatigue, joint/muscle aches & low mood/motivation. Had bloods done at the beginning of week all fine apart slight raised white blood court doc said a virus like they always do! I just feel so ill daily & like you keep googling it’s awful, I’m convinced today there’s something sinister going on with my back :'( Glad your ex is being helpful makes a big difference x

Oh bless you Itwillpass! I felt similar on and off without the patches 🤦♀️! The reason I went on them was to rid of the facial flushing and all day racing heart/palpitations which I had non stop for weeks.... i couldn't hardly function. I did have Propranalol whiched helped slightly but they made me feel a bit weird 🤔 Have you tried just half a patch more? Are you on any medication for depression? xx
-
I tried sertraline for 3 weeks & had to stop because it made me feel constantly drunk! This why I wonder if I am just really sensitive to meds? I still get palpitations on & off too horrid things, I did try adding half a patch but still felt weird. I wonder if I can half just one patch down to 25mg in total ??? The last doc I saw is convinced I’ve got anxiety & it might not be hormones! I’m 46 & have so many peri menopause symptoms though so think maybe they are all overlapping each other xx
-
I would ask the Doc about cutting it down to 25mg but not the one that claims you've just got anxiety 🙄. Have you had anxiety or low mood in the past? Xxx
-
No never had anxiety before to be honest it’s completely floored me. I wasn’t able to speak to my usual lovely doc last time hence this one, she even said every woman goes through menopause like it was no big deal which made me feel like a fraud >:(
-
Comments by your Doc like that don't exactly make us feel better, does it? 🙄😚 I wonder if she was one of the lucky ones xx
-
They really don’t do they, talking with you has made me feel better than her :-* She might be slightly older than me so maybe she hasn’t reached it yet & that comment will bite her on the backside ;D take care xxx
-
And you sweets! Xxx
-
I would suggest you try to hang in there for at least another full cycle as things are likely to even out for you. I think any changes or disruptions to the regime, however minor you think they may be, are probably causing the side effects. I found some instant improvements on these patches, but it was probably 3-4 months before I felt all the strange little changes to mood and energy levels smoothed out. Hope things improve soon for you!
-
Hi Racheldc just wondering what other symptoms you had too, my energy levels are so low today plus bloating, nausea, burning back ache, anxiety & generally off again. I’m determined to stick with it though it’s so hard :-\ feels like everyday is a bad day lately
