Title: Scared to start HRT...
Post by: Beaniehat on January 18, 2021, 11:04:16 AM
So, i had a really helpful online consultation last week with a specialise GP who agreed that some of the anxiety problems i have been having could be down to my hormones. She's prescribed oestrogel and progesterone tablets.

Scared to start it! What if it doesn't help? what if it makes me worse....  :-\

What if .......... I've been there  ::).  Holding The Pill in my hand for hours B4 swallowing it  :-\. Still here.

What's the worst that can happen?  Do U keep a mood/food/symptom dairy (diary even) to chart progress? MayB do that for 2 weeks B4 U begin the HRT? to give you a base-line.

HRT can take a while to kick in and sometimes ladies need a hike in dose or a change of regime.  Which is why the diary is useful.

Do read our threads about vaginal atrophy and bladder issues; forewarned is forearmed  ;)

Hi. I just want to say, the worst is you try it, feel worse and stop it.

I don't know what stage you're at, but I'm peri and tried hrt pills in December. The estrogen alone made me feel poisoned... So I stopped it. Now back to trying the pill itself.

Despite it making me feel awful, I'm really glad I tried it. I now know I'm not at that level yet, indeed I'm thinking I might be quite high estrogen and on the peri roller-coaster. I'm grateful for the trial.

So, it is scary, I was scared too, but I could stop it easily. Most ladies seem to find it helps. For he, I just dont think I'm at that stage yet, do trying the pill again instead.

Good luck xx
