Hello I've got stomach cramps - more so when I sit down - probably meno related
What is the strongest painkiller I can buy?
Thanks for looking and reading XX

Hi Menopausealways, not sure where you are but can only speak for UK and from my own experience. I assume you mean over the counter painkillers because you certainly can get quite strong ones on prescription, GPs willing. I use both paracetamol and ibuprofen, and discovered that you can take them both together at the same time with impunity (trouble is that's the equivalent of taking two doses of painkillers so you then have to wait eight hours before taking anymore. Not that that stopped me, pain is pain so down the throat they go.
I also found in the dim dark ages when I used to get awful hangovers, that taking 6-8 disprin (or aspirin as well I suppose) in one go helped a lot with pain. But there are obvious risks with doing that, at least for any length of time.
I know that caffeine added painkillers are reputed to be quite effective, but I found them useful only for caffeine withdrawal headaches (back in the days before I realized that caffeine and the lack of it was giving me bad headaches).
I hope someone else knows of a stronger painkiller, I'd be interested myself.
I'm sorry you're in such pain, hope it subsides very soon xxx

Co codamol is one of the strongest ones but be careful if it's cramping, I mean if it's trapped wind,no need for co codamol, and trapped wind can be horrifically painful

If it's period pains then 'femonax' [sp] helped me.

Jaypo that's interesting, I always thought codeine based painkillers were prescription only. Now I know better I shall go and invest in some, as the old paracetamol/ibuprofen mix only goes so far. Thanks xx

I was advised to take paracetamol then a couple of hours later to take nurofen. MayB ask a Pharmacist?

"paracetamol then a couple of hours later to take nurofen" I sometimes do that too, and if that doesn't work I use codeine. Co-codamol is paracetamol and codeine (8mg I think) , you can also get codeine with ibuprofen, which has a stronger dose of codeine(12mg?) I had Naproxen on prescription for a while, but went back to codeine as it seemed to be more effective to me.

Just to say please be careful with codeine if constipation is an issue.

I can't stomach codeine at all,big no no for me
