Title: Intolerant to estrogen??
Post by: CLP on December 28, 2020, 04:06:31 PM
Hi Everyone
I have been on a few types of hot over the past months and am struggling to find one that makes me feel better.  First tried Evorel 50 with utrogestan.  The patch made me feel quite sick and sore boobs and the utrogestan felt awful - like a zombie.  I switched to oral Femeston - which made me so so sick.  I have been on Estrogel for almost 2 months now and am waiting to have the Mirena coil fitted next week.  The gynaecologist told me to go straight to 3 pumps of gel which I realised was giving me intense PMS.  I am now on 1 pump a day and still feel lie the gel makes me really flat and fed up.  It has sorted out the insomnia and brain fog but has left me feeling really not like myself.  It has nothing to do with progesterone as I haven't been taking any since I started the gel.  Has anyone experienced a similar reaction to the estrogen part of HRT and found something that works?
Thanks xx

The flat feeling is usually a progesterone symptom. Some people feel flat because of progesterone that doesn’t agree with them, while others find that progesterone helps with feeling and chills you out. Maybe your body isn’t reacting to estrogen per se, but is calling for progesterone since you haven’t had any for two months?

Since you get the Mirena next week, it will be a whole new ball game. Hang tight and see how that changes things. Expect the first 6 weeks at least to be very different (not always for the better!), and it can take up to 6 months to settle. I’m an impatient person but these things really do take time.
