Post by: NinaCB on December 14, 2020, 11:26:48 AM

Sorry, no experience. But I hear you. Pud and clear.

I started femoston 1/10 15 days ago. I'm stopping tomorrow.

What stage are u? Good luck with the bioidentical. It does feel like you need an expert to analyse which hormones you actually need and in what amounts. Don't seem to get anything like that on NHS.

I'm 44. Conclusion is hrt is not right for me... Yet. But that doesnt help as I'll go bsck to feeling awful with random symptoms 😬

Hiya - I was prescribed bio identical progsterone (not estrogen) and although it didn't work for my specific set of problems, it was 1,0000000 times better from a side effect profile than Utrogestan. I understand there are lots of differing opinions out there, but having researched it a lot myself I felt very confident in taking it from a safety perspective. I'm very sensitive to medication in general so anything that reduces side effects was worth the cost to me. Good luck xx

Hi Nina, very interested in this, where are you going to see private GP, i looked on line but the only ones i could find were in London and were £350 just for consultation!!!! I then looked at wellsprings and nutrition x but just wasnt sure of they would work or whether i was wasting more money!!!

Hi Robotwars,

I wish I could help you with this but unfortunately I can't.  I, myself, made some enquiries about these private meno clinics.  They are expensive.  It's not so much the initial consultation but the regular follow ups and the replacement hormones they provide, which only last one month in some clinics. I don't think you can have a repeat prescription without a follow up, making this an expensive business.  Also, I don't think private medical insurances cover this because it's not an illness and it's on an ongoing basis.  It's a shame there isn't a more affordable option that can give us access to BHRT.

I use bioidentical (bespoke) progesterone with conventional oestrogen and testosterone.

I have a thread in the Alternative Therapies section on here which you may find interesting.

I have been using it for well over two years now and it's the only type of progesterone I have been able to tolerate.

Have you tried anything apart from femosten? If you want to try bhrt that's fine but it may not be necessary if can find a conventional one that suits you.
