Title: Utrogestan - headaches
Post by: Gnatty on November 27, 2020, 11:18:37 AM
I seem to sort out one symptom only to create another! I swapped from taking utrogestan vaginally on a nightly basis to just one every other night as I was feeling very tired (am premenopausal but trying to sort out heavy frequent periods on a conti regime). But now I seem to be getting low level pressure headaches. Is this a coincidence or could it be fluctuating progesterone? I have never suffered with headaches previously and don't want to start now. Also take oestrogel 2 pumps so wondering whether to increase dose or will that exacerbate the headaches? Wondering whether to give in and switch to sequi.

You could be right, I think the headache is worse on the day I dont take the utrogestan. What a palaver! Yet it seems to be recommended so much....

I guess it depends whether it is merely a temporary adjustment or not! Don't really want to take painkillers all the time. I think maybe persevere a little while longer and then if no improvement try a sequi regime which I guess my own body would prefer as I still have regular periods! What do you think?

Im 57 and was prescribed Utrogestan tablets and Evorel 25 patches in March this year,  after my much loved stock of Femseven sequi patches ran out (which I'd been on for a few years and hadnt had a single side effect from !)

Ever since I have been experiencing daily headaches and have 24/7 high pitched tinnitus going on :(

Around the same time I think I had Covid and was also diagnosed with high blood which I'm on Felodopine tabs for.

I'm due to have a CT scan tomorrow to see if there is any other reason for the headaches/tinnitus and have had hearing and eyesight tests which were fine.

I wondered if the HRT meds could be causing these problems or if anyone has had similar problems. I don't know whether to come off them completely and see how i feel or whether to see if Femseven come back in stock and try the Conti as dont want the bleeds the Sequi give.....any help would be gratefully received   :)

Hi, I just found this thread as I'm also getting headaches on Utrogestan. I just was reading the info leaftet for utro and it mentioned to stop taking it if you get sudden high BP - just thought it was worth mentioning. Headaches are also a side effect.
I am thinking of coming off this regime and going back to Femoston as I also get horrible nausea most mornings. I hope you get your headaches sorted.

I gave up and switched back to every night utro rather than every other. I also gave up caffeine which I think has really helped too. My blood pressure is fine, I keep checking it! I wonder if the HRT can make us more sensitive to caffeine? Do you drink coffee?
