Hello ladies.
I have decided to try HRT again and seem to remember that the PIF in the Oestrogel packet mentioned a template.
It said something along the lines of ' spread the gel over an area the size of the template provided'. Thinking about it I never did find such a template so I was never sure if I was using the gel correctly.
Does this sound familiar ladies or have I dreamt it all lol. What size area of skin should we apply Oestrogel to do you think and how thickly should we spread it? Has anyone ever found a template included in their gel?
Thanks ladies and take care.

I remember reading somewhere to spread on an area about size of A5. I think if the area is too large it's not as effective.
Good luck, I hope it gives you some relief 😊

Hello Jane50
Thanks so much for that. I will keep it in mind when I get the gel later today.
Take care.

Good luck with the Oestrogel..... let us know how you get on Wx

I have used the gel for 15 yrs now. I alternate legs and rub it in slowly until it is absorbed have never seen a template in any of the boxes.

I rub 2 pumps on each outer arm and shoulder. Just rub it and leave to dry. Only takes a few minutes. X

Hello again ladies..
Thank you for all your comments.
I used to put the gel on my inner thighs so I think I'll use my upper arms and shoulders this time to see if it makes a difference.
I will keep the forum updated with my progress ( let's hope there is some).
Take care everyone.

I didn't know you rubbed it in, I thought you just spread it on surface of skin and wait for it to be obsorbed

I started with 1 pump each on the inside of each thigh. There seems to be loads of it. I’ve upped it to 3 pumps and put the extra one on my upper arms.
I assumed you were supposed to rub it in but having read this thread I’m wondering if that is just spreading it round further rather than actually rubbing anything in, it just ends up all over my hands & then washed off.
Perhaps if I try spreading on a smaller area and just leaving it then it might absorb on its own? That just never accursed to me. It would explain why my night sweats haven’t gone after a month of using it!

I personally find that not rubbing it in works best for me. I use 2.5 pumps a day, split between day and night, and use shoulders or upper arms and/or thighs, depending on how much seems to be stuck on my fingers. If I still run out of skin, I use my lower buttocks, with my doctor's say-so.

thanks for this information - I've just been prescribed this (I think - telephone consult, will pick up later today) and was wondering how to use

I think the important thing is to do the same thing each time so you get a consistent dose. I apply it to inner thighs twice a day. I use a finger tip on each hand to spread it thinly but don't rub it in . Too cold in my house for bare shoulders waiting for it to dry!
Is it improving your symptoms Kathleen?

I think the same do the same thing everyday although I do rub mine in which I was told to do at the specialist clinic !
