Hi Ladies,
So this past couple of weeks I’m having terrible trouble sleeping. Doesn’t matter what time I go to bed! I usually get to sleep by reading so that’s not too bad but I am waking up so much during the night, usually from around 2.30am onwards!!! Sometimes I’m awake an hour each time. I am sooooo tired the next day.
My hot flushes are more than hot at the moment. It’s like my head is in an oven! I think it’s this that’s waking me up. It’s worse now that it’s winter because if I’m not flushing I’m then freezing cold instead (that wakes me up too). I wear very little in bed so that I don’t burn up!
Still having periods of stupid talking/weird silly actions too, but not quite as bad as when I posted about that. My headaches have stopped though so that’s something.
Does anyone have any tips on sleeping through the night?! Pleaseeee. I’m not on HRT, I’m riding it through if I can. I don’t need to pee in the night by the way - that s another symptom that has passed.
Thank you ❤️

Lack of sleep is a common thread. Do U wake 2 C whether you have been asleep, I used to :-\
An alteration of body temperature is often the cause.
-
I too suffer from this intermittently and a couple of friends recommended the app headspace. I find it incredibly useful.
-
Thanks Ladies.
I’m not sure CKLD! I wake and think bloody Nora, not again! Hard to function on only 3/4 hours sleep. I think I get cold chills after the boiling hot temp.
I’ll have a look at the headspace thanks Pumpkin.

Same here. Have you tried A Vogel DORMEASAN drops??Sometines just 5 drops is enough for me to nod off.
Have a look and give em a go ::)
-
Thank you menopausalalways! I’ve never heard of those so will try them. I can nod off easily enough by reading but it’s waking up in the early hours that’s the problem as it takes so long to get back to sleep. Do you take the drops every time you wake up? Xx
-
Morning ;D
Sometimes I take another 3 or 4 drops - just ensure the total amount you take doesn't exceed the stated dose. Although. generally when your head hits the pillow you're in the land of Nod!
Good Luck X

Thank you again! I will hear my morning alarms on these won’t I? Or if my daughter gets up in the night?! X

Have you tried the total body relaxation method? Starting with the toes: stretch, hold, relax. The idea is to work upwards through all the muscle groups, I've never got further than my quads., soooo boring ;D but it focuses my mind enough to drop off. It's those nights when I sleep deeply until 12.30 ish, wake thinking it's almost morning to find out ......... by which time I am awake!! Or I wake at 4.30 for a P and then can't go back until 6.30 ..........
-
I did this some years ago actually CKLD! I will try this tonight/tomorrow after midnight LOL, if I’m awake yet again. Thank you ❤️
-
;D. I thought of you ....... and it went through my mind that mayB I should do the relaxation I suggested .......... didn't though ::) and then: dropping off, my R ear, that I was laying on, popped and gurgled :o like it had filled with liquid. I jumped and squealed; Himself jumped himself awake; the cat rolled off the bed, the python slipped under the chest of drawers, the sloth slid quietly to the ground :o ........ it was a really strange sensation !

HAHA CKLD - sounds like quite a night! Made me smile. I had 1.5 hours sleep, it’s ridiculous! I did the tension and relaxation technique and was still awake by the time I finished the whole body. Literally so tired of this crap.
-
Get up and do the ironing? Often we think that we haven't slept but we do doze intermittently. Trouble is, it was never restful for me ::)
-
Yes CKLD that’s partly it for me too. I’ve been monitoring my sleep with my Fitbit watch. It’s crazy the amount of times I’m restless during the night. I am dozing intermittently and at the moment I’m getting around 5 hours sleep in an 8/9 hour period with about 20 restless periods. It’s an improvement from that awful night where I got 1.5 hours sleep! The flushes have calmed down somewhat and I’ve not been doing so many daft things. Tallies up with research that links flushes with bad memory and confusion. They obviously cause the brain to overheat and short circuit! Xx

Hi Cat71
Posted a similar post at 4.00am today. I have been getting around 3 hours sleep for several weeks now. I fall asleep no problem but wake suddenly with adrenalin surge. I get up and go down stairs watch Xmas films ;D ;D but surges and panic last untill around 5.00am.

Birdy
Do you mean I need progesterone ??
-
Which HRT are you on?
-
Birdy
I only take Northisterone 7 days every 6 weeks. i thought a drop in progesterone could make me feel wired and needed extra.
Something to think about - thank you

I take phenergan the odd night if I've had a run of bad nights and really need to sleep, but like all these drugs they only really help you get to sleep, not stay asleep, so might not be any help given what you've described. Tbh the only thing I've found helps with menopausal insomnia is HRT.
-
Hi Warwick. How are you getting on now? Has your sleep improved? Mine is still rubbish! X

I go to sleep no bother at 10 but wide awake at 2.30 that's me done for the night. Torture
