Title: Patches
Post by: Cassie on November 14, 2020, 05:57:30 AM
For the lovely ladies who use patches what are you using and what strength patch? Always get a bit confused with patches when one sees the strength but I presume that dose is metered out over a few days, is that how it works? :-\

I’m on Evorel 100mg , have been on hrt for 15 years . Started on Estradot 75 . Had to take Evorel when there was a supply shortage of Estradot and couldn’t believe how much better I felt on it . I change every 4 th day .

Hello Cassie,  I’ve been using the Evorel 25 patch twice a week for nearly 2 months. This I believe is designed to deliver 25 micrograms of oestrogen every 24 hrs.  I change the patch every 3rd or 4th day. I’m following a conti regime in also taking Utrogestan (progesterone) continuously. At the moment I cannot really report on the effect that the oestrogen is having alone as I feel that the Utrogestan is making me too sedated and ‘winning out’ so may well need to tweak regime after discussion with meno specialist next week. I believe no undue side effects from the Evorel though. x

Although I have stretched out the days when there was a supply problem.

Hi, I am currently on Estradot 75mcg with 100mg Utrogestan daily. I have been on HRT for almost 10 years (mostly oral) but was changed to patches -and have recently increased from 50mcg. I am slightly worried about the higher dose/risk of breast cancer but I do feel much better.

Hi there

I am on evorel 50, started on evorel 25 and increased to 50 after 3 months. Have been on evorel 50 for about 18 months now and am very happy with them

Thankyou ladies, so it would seem that the Evorel 25 is the lowest one gets, delivering 25mcg every 24 hours, which appears to be a lot lower than what I am currently using which is 1 pump, which delivers 750mcg. I guess I could try half a pump, just very difficult to get the dosage correct with the pump action.
Trying to find the lowest dosage that is safe for long term use as I do not intend to throw away my HRT when I turn 60  ;D

Cassie, I think 1 pump of Oestrogel is considered equivalent to 25mcg patch.  Have a look at this link from Newson Health.  The relevant bit is:-

"Two pumps of Oestrogel is roughly equal to 50mcg patch".

Hi,
Would you mind If I asked what the difference was? Ive tried estraderm, evorel and estradot. Wondered if estradot wasn't as good but when I got the estraderm patch is was so big!

Thanks Kelly x

Thankyou Wrensong, thats a most helpful table, I guess one cannot just convert as perhaps the patches and the gel absorb diffferently.  :-\
