Hi all
Apart from sore boobs, what other symptoms might indicate that your oestrogen is too high on her?
Thank you

Hi. I am always unsure as to whether I am too high or low! Symptoms appear to be so similar. My main problem now is gut issues and palpitations. I have had a blood test just to see how I’m absorbing and will go from there. I also need to sort my diet out as I’m reading so much about a good diet at the minute which appears to play a massive part in perimenopause symptoms!

Hi there,
I’m figuring this one out too just now.
I was on Conti and had constant sore boobs, sweating and anxiety was fairly high. I blamed progesterone, however I’m now on Sequi again and on the oestrogen only patches at the moment and guess what? Sore boobs, feeling hot and anxious. :o
I’ve decided to cut a 1/4 off my patches and see how I get on.
I’ll follow this post with interest.
Do you have other symptoms apart from the sore boobs?
:)

I’ve always found too much oestrogen = jittery/anxious. Too much progesterone = low mood/depression. There is a sweet spot in the middle when everything is balanced, trouble is we need both hormones x

Hi
Thanks for all of your replies. That’s an interesting list Avalon. I’ve been getting a lot of pains in my calves and shins, ranging from a crampy pain, to a dull gnawing ache.
Lots of muscle and bone aches elsewhere too.oh, and yes, Some palpitations
Hard to tell with the anxiety, as it’s been such a difficult time lately, so anxiety is high anyway
Too much and not enough do seem similar, don’t they?

It sounds like not enough to me. I find body/joint aches relieved when I increase dose. I’ve had palpitations when low that feel a lot like jitters when high. Definitely tricky!
-
Yes, that's what I thought, but then I have sore boobs as well. ??

Boobs sore to the touch, hurts to hug? Or more generally swollen feeling? That’s another one I don’t understand. When I was peri, I had low estrogen symptoms (vaginal dryness & painful sex for a month or so) followed by a few months of huge swollen painful breasts. I assume that was a rebound high estrogen after the low, but maybe it was part of the low as well?

Hi,
I too wondered this, I would have swore blind I was too high in estrogen - went from 50mg patch to 100mg and I get more anxious, I have more aches and pains in groin (possibly progesterone related tho), Im sure the estrogen increase effects nerves as my internal scar tissue pain increases each time (from an operation). Yet my bloods dont show it - Im only 211 pmol. Im scared to increase due to the pain thing and my GP is worried as I have fibroids too (cause again buy the estrogen!).
/have any of you had bolo levels tested? I had read that sometime w some people can't get rid of excess estrogen and that can cause estrogen side effects? but not sure the ins and outs
x

What’s bolo levels?

Ha! Yes I’ve done. In early July, I got a reading of 3126 pmol/L which oddly no one seemed fussed about. I was on 3 pumps of estrogel at the time. I immediately stopped, to try to reset everything. After 6 weeks and being clear what low estrogen feels like for me (headaches, palpitations), I started back on 1/2 pump a day. After getting a Mirena, I slowly worked up to 2 pumps a day. Just last week, I had a reading of 316 pmol/L. Because of the sky-high test in the summer, I washed my arms an hour before the test to rule out testing error. So 316 seems good but some body aches and headaches and stuff remain so just this morning I added back a third pump to see if that helps (I’m 44 and not clear what I should be aiming for, and the dr doesn’t use the readings anyway).

OMg 3000! Wow how did you feel? Ive no idea if how Im feeling is low or high estrogen but could it be high if Im only reading 211 pmol? I can't say I felt worse at 171 but its not much lower. I feel more anxious now - but is it because Ive no progesterone in me! God knows - Im fed up trying to sort it out tbh 😂,

I felt fine when my estrogen was 3000+, just no sex drive. Sometimes I feel agitated and irritable (okay often) and I would like a better handle on that, although it seems to be less of an issue currently. I have a Mirena now and it’s nice to have one constant. The progesterone I was taking before, maybe that was variable depending on how much I ate, etc. Now I can just focus on tweaking estrogen. And maybe my SSRI.

Can I ask how is the Mirena different from \utrogestan as far as dosage? Were you on cyclic progesterone before? How did you feel with and without progesterone as now you have a low constant? Before menopause or ovary removal I know progesterone was up and down and that's why they say cyclic progesterone but during the times we don't take it then I guess we have no progesterone in our bodies which never happened naturally? I dunno?

I’m not sure how far different the Mirena is from the progesterone. It’s local for the most part, although may be a bit systemic for the first month or so. Being that progesterone isn’t terribly well absorbed, I’m not sure it’s fair because it’s not comparing apples to apples. I tried progesterone in all ways: continuous, cyclically, orally, vaginally. It did make me overly sleepy in the morning sometimes. I don’t find that the Mirena gives me noticeable systemic effects. I had one before for 4 years and was happy with it.

I had Mirena coil fitted 6 weeks ago as I couldn’t tolerate the progesterone phase of tablets. The bonus for me has been I have no fluctuations of mood. I used to feel really down and generally rubbish for at least 10 days whilst on it. The coil is a very low dose of progesterone although sorry I couldn’t tell you how much. Fee headaches here and there but they have been manageable.

Hi Kelly Louise
I don't really know. I'm tempted to lower it first, to see if it makes a difference.
Are you on testosterone too? I am on androfemme and I'm thinking of stopping for a while.
I just feel rubbish, so many pains in different places, it's so scary and miserable.

I know Ive not felt like myself (mood swings included!) since they removed my ovaries and been trying to get the right balance for the past two years but don't feel any nearer!
Im not on testosterone - I was for a while but I was then on a 50mg patch (estrogen levels was 171 pmol) and if you don't have the right levels of esrtogen then testosterone converts to estrogen. I got the same feelings adding testosterone that I do when I increase esrterogen - which is tingling numb arms /body so I had a feeling I didn't have optimum levels so stopped. then I spoke to the private clinic who said based on my age that 50mg was way to low so to sort that first. So I upped to 100mg patch - and feel no better! So not sure what to do next either. But weirdly for me I have a small maybe stupid worry that increasing estrogen effects nerve endings and it regenerates them so I get more scar tissue pain which I don't want!
I sometime look back to an age why I remember not worrying about anything- would love to just feel that way right now!
Who does your HRT the GP or private?

Hi Kelly Louise
I go to the newson clinic. However, I'm svarec to get in touch with them, as the answer always seems to be to increase oestrogel.
I'm.having a particular my bad day today, I've convinced myself that I have ms/als or undiagnosed Lyme's disease ( I had a negative thank test last year)
I'm still getting twitching in my calves as well as other pains .. yesterday my right buttock /hip was really aching.
My ha is really ramping up

OMG me too! I know they will just increase my patch its like they don't see you as an individual just 'YOU NEED more estrogen!" And you pay £90 just to be told it. I had a few questions for my nurse and they said yeah its £30 for her to reply 😂. I really thought before seeing them they would be the answer to everything 😂
Im the same with the pains too - mental we feel the same - buttock, hip is particular bad and the RHS! Exactly same place as you - I also have HA, Ive tried therapy(which has worked for me in the past) but it didn't for HA. I've had two rare tumours so it starts after that really and the aches with menopause really don't help do they?
If your having a bad day they hopefully you will take comfort in that my pains are in exactly the same place as yours, the one thing I'm consciously trying to stop doing is googling - its my downfall and adds to the anxiety.

It’s so hard to get it right, isn’t it?
I was on Femonston2/10 in the summer (increased from 1/10) and all my symptoms came back but I didn’t realise it could be too high estrogen dose.
I tried estrogel and utrogestan for a month but now realise I was applying too many pumps. I stopped sleeping, became highly anxious and began to have jump shock sensations as I fell asleep ...I have recently gone back to 1/10 Femonston because it dawned on me that my estrogen could be too high, so fingers crossed it will work.
I am 55 and presume , post meno.

Hey birdy, how are you ? :-*
The thing is, progesterone only seems to come in one dose, doesn’t it? No matter how much oestrogel, the Utrogestan stays the same.

Hi ladies
Has anyone tried Serenity cream ?
It oestrogen only
There is also one called 20-1 which has progesterone included
I have ordered the first though unsure if it’s what I need to stop these awful flushes ???
