Title: Can I cut my patches in half?
Post by: Clarey8 on October 23, 2020, 04:34:15 PM
After a lot of reading assessing symptoms I feel my Estradiol patches are high at 100 and my anxiety is high and migraines are worsening. Can I cut them in half to 50? And still take the 200 utrogestan or would that need to be adjusted to a
Lower dose?? Many thanks in advance  :) :)

Hi!  maybe put the name of the products into the search box on the forum to see how others deal with symptoms?  Make notes ;-)

Hi Clarey8, many women cut the patches and many doctors think it's okay to cut them, although the manufacturers say they haven't carried out studies to confirm that this won't affect dose and absorption.
If you decide to cut them, read these instructions on how to cut them properly.

The manufacturer's recommended dose of utro is 200mg regardless of how much oestrogen you take.

Thanks so much Sheila99!
I’ll do that! I’m new to using the forum so still starting to work out how to do it and how to reply. Eek!

So have I.  Was told to by consultant. Very recently someone said that it made a difference to cut them diagonally instead of straight across. I asked why but didn't get a reply.

I’m going to cut it diagonally the next time I need to change it and see how I get on. I’m hoping it will make a dog fence to the way I’m feeling! Fingers crossed 🤞🏻

I cut mine into three! I use a 50 mcg plus a third. Seems to work for me....sort of!

When I used evorel before the shortages I used to cut a quarter off them.

Yes I’m on the patch and was on 100; too high! Lowered to 75, still a bit high, so going to cut a strip off the next one on change day. I probably need 65.5 or something ridiculous!  ;D

I cut a strip off my Estraderm mx75 as can't face the rigmarole of contacting the GP to go back on MX 50's  :-\.
