Title: Patches expiry date
Post by: Hot head on October 06, 2020, 08:32:29 AM
I bought Everol Conti patches privately and I have a couple of boxes left with expiry 10/2020. Does anyone know how long I could safely use them please.

Hi Hothead

They're fine provided they've been stored under normal conditions and not subject to extremes of temperature ie overheating. If you bought them privately - I'm not sure what you mean - if online not from a pharmacy then you can't guarantee how they've been stored but normally they would be fine for ages. It's like food - it doesn't suddenly go bad the day after the expiry date. How long they will keep after expiry is to some extent by their usual shelf life eg if something has 3 years from manufacture it could possibly be kept for up to a year afterwards - but the studies haven't been carried out hence the 3 year limit. Something with a 3 days shelf life eg food you would not want to use on the day after expiry...if you see what I mean? I presume your initial prescrption for HRT was issued by a doc rather than self-medicating which is not advised?
