I had a prophylactic laparoscopic bilateral salpingectomy on Friday, along with a D&C, hysteroscopy, and Mirena insertion. I had a Mirena before menopause and it worked well for me, and the OBGYN was eager to have it in place as a part of my HRT in light of the higher dosage of Estrogel I’d been trying.
For those that had already satisfactory balance before getting a Mirena, did you find that your Estrogel (or patch) dosage stayed the same, or needed to be tweaked? If you did need a change, how long before you became aware that you were no longer balanced?
So far things seem fine for me, perhaps my mood is too flat?, but I’m just a a few days out of surgery so there’s that.

I had to start on everol 25 when I had my mirena fitted. My Gynae gave me everol 50 but I ended up feeling overwhelmed. I had a rv appointment with my gp and discussed this with him so we tried thec25 for a month then up to the 50 which made me feel better. Think it's a case of tweaking the oestrogen to what feels right for you.
I'm now back on patches as I was on oestrogel as couldn't get patches but a few days before my period;I give myself a pump of gel plus my patch as I get a bit of anxiety and that seems to help. I also change my patch every 3 days too.

Hopefully it will settle for you.

That’s interesting to read scrubdub! I was on the gel and didn’t absorb so was put on Everol 50 and after 7 days increased to 100 which sent me crazy to be honest so stopped immediately and went back to the gel! I’ve had a Mirena fitted with no side effects as yet but am on Sandrena and all symptoms still remain ! Feeling awful everyday! Maybe an option to try a lower dose patch and see how that goes

I have woken felling very jittery and generally unwell! I have no idea what to do! I feel like decreasing Sandrena and see what happens but the specialist keeps saying if anything I should increase as bloods were only 356 any thoughts ladies?

I haven’t figured that out, sorry. Sometimes I’ve felt jittery on too much, and other times, too little. I swear I wish I could have an easy estrodiol test akin to blood sugar monitoring!

Here’s where I’m at, confused as always. I had the salpingectomy alongside a D&C, hysteroscopy, and Mirena insertion 9 days ago. Last 3 days, lots of period-like cramping. Red spotting for two days now (different from the post-surgery stuff).
Being that my uterus was totally emptied, the IUD wouldn’t be working away to thin a present lining (as it would have when placed in my reproductive years, and I had brown spotting for weeks to months). Do you think that the red spotting indicates that I am using too much estrogen at this time? I know spotting is to be expected with IUDs but I’m curious for the actual WHY. @Hurdity, any thoughts?
