Title: Massively overweight already due to start HRT
Post by: Leeanne on August 13, 2020, 10:38:17 AM
I have read so many posts about weight gain when taking HRT. I have an appointment in two weeks to start HRT (I’m 35) I am massively overweight already so I’m absolutely terrified of gaining anything else.

Has anyone who was overweight prior to taking HRT found weight has increased/remained the same or lost?

Have you been checked for polycystic ovary syndrome [I think it's called] which can cause girls to put weight on without apparent reason?

:welcomemm:  mayB tell us more about yourself?  Age, periods, exercise, overall diet ......... will you get support from the Surgery regarding weight loss, some have found Weight Watchers very supportive and successful.

Hi, and welcome to the forum Leanne. I'm sorry to say that I gained a lot of weight very quickly after starting HRT - about 10 pounds in 10 weeks. 😬 I had no change in appetite, diet or exercise. I wasn't feeling any better anyway, so stopped it. I dread to think what I'd weigh if I'd continued to take it! I was already about 1 1/2 stone overweight. I was using 2 pumps of Oestrogel and Utrogestan. Conversely, my sister is a completely different build from me - always slim, (size 8-10) and she hasn't gained weight on HRT. I think it's much more likely to make people who are overweight/put on weight easily gain weight, it's so unfair!

I have used systemic HRT for 4 years and have put no extra weight on.
