Title: Hello Everyone! Here earlier than I thought!
Post by: Leeanne on August 11, 2020, 05:12:07 PM
Hi Everyone
As the title says I’m here earlier than I thought. I’m 35 years old and today told I’m starting the whole menopause thing. I know very little. I have an appointment coming up and the Dr has suggested HRT.
Feel very overwhelmed  :'(

Hello Leeanne and welcome to the forum.

You are young to be dealing with declining hormones so you would be wise to begin HRT as soon as you can.

I am no expert I'm afraid but I'm sure the more knowledgeable ladies will be along soon to advise you.

Wishing you well and keep posting.

K.

Hi  :welcomemm:

What have your symptoms been and which would you like to ease?

Browse round.  Make notes ;-).  Ask away.  What HRT has your GP suggested?

Hi Leanne,  I hope you are well.   I am also 38, started peri symptoms when I was around 32/33 in my opinion but only got a brief diagnosis about a year and a half ago.  Was told I was heading for premature ovarian insufficiency due to low ovarian count or something like that.  I haven't been prescribed HRT yet (frankly, I was treated very badly) it really has left a sour taste in m mouth about the way women are disregarded or told they are over-reacting or hypochondriacs.   I do have a follow up appointment  this Thursday to try and get HRT but I don't hold out much hope in getting any.  My menopause specialist has been appalling to deal with.  I really hope you have a kind and understanding doctor helping you.  I had to write a letter asking for HRT in the end because I was getting nowhere with it- which is why I have an appointment this week.  I am very apprehensive about taking HRT but at the same time, I am a single mother to a young girl of 11 and I don't want her childhood memories to be of me this way.   Admittedly, I have change da lot since this started.  I had severe anxiety at the start of my journey, that I never had experienced before.   I went through hell in the beginning and was offered anti-depressants etc (I am sensitive to medications so I didn't last long trying those).  if I could go back a few years I would tell myself to trust my instinct in that I knew what I was going through was hormonal, and not listen to others.  We know our own bodies and women have a great inner intuition about things. Trust your gut and I hope you find relief from whatever symptoms you do have...…it's a difficult time and made more difficult if you experience it before a lot of you friends. Take care wish you good health and relief from whatever symptoms you have. :)
