Title: Help needed regarding Gel amount thank you
Post by: Dandelion on May 07, 2020, 11:08:33 PM
Hi I was using 75mcg evorel patched and swapped to 3 pumps of gel daily, but found that my abnormal bleeding was bothersome so I reduced to 2 pumps and slowly discharge has seemed to calm down -  I buy the gel from here https://www.oxfordonlinepharmacy.co.uk/hormone-replacement-therapy/3-x-oestrogel-estradiol-0-06-gel-80gc
and use 1 pump on each arm daily thinking I was using the equivalent of 50mcg patches.
I have become confused because when looking see how long a canister of oestrogegel lasted I came across this sitesee how long a canister of oestrogen gel lasted I came across this site https://www.medicines.org.uk/emc/product/353/smpc
On this site it says "Each pump actuation delivers 1.25 g of gel which contains 0.75 mg of Estradiol.
Does this mean that instead of putting 50mcg on daily, ie two pumps, one on each arm, I have been actually putting 750mcg on both arms and overdosing myself with oestrogen?
I thought I was cutting my dose down by using two pumps instead of 3, the discharge has calmed but I am now worried I have wrongly assumed that 2 pumps Oestrogel from the first link is the same as 50mcg of oestrogen, my new dose? The medicines.org site leads me to believe I have been putting 75mcg equivalent on each arm as they say that is how much there is in each pump
I would some clarification please thank you.

Hi you are right. 2 pumps is equal to a 50 patch.
