Title: Bedroom issues update
Post by: KateF on August 07, 2020, 08:56:27 AM
Hi, as previously suggested I have now had my testosterone levels checked and they are rock-bottom (0.5). My GP has stated that as I am taking medication for over-active thyroid, prescribing testosterone will interact with my thyroid treatment. However, they have suggested I give over-the-counter viagra a try. Your thoughts or advice on this would be appreciated....

Hello KateF and welcome to the forum.

Unfortunately I cannot help you with your query but I wanted to welcome you and say that you have raised a good  point.  Several ladies here take testosterone and thyroid problems are very common in our age group.

I am hypothyroid and although I don't take HRT at the moment I will be readiing your responses with interest.

Take care.

K.

Hi Kathleen, good to hear from you. My particular issue is that I am unable to climax and the GP believes viagra may help. Would like to hear if others have tried viagra and how to get it..🤞🤞

There's a thyroid forum on healthunlocked.com if you don't get an answer here. It would be good to know if your gp is right before trying alternatives. What happens if you're male and produce your own testosterone? I haven't tried viagara but I was in your situation and I doubt it would have helped me. My theory (which may be wrong) is that lack of muscle tone was the problem not lack of blood flow. Let us know if you find the answer.

Researching online it does not appear that Viagra for women would help in the achievement of orgasm. Will look a bit further into it though.

Hi Kate, I’m a bit clueless on thyroid issues I’m afraid. It’s something I need to educate myself about! But does this mean you are unable to take HRT? I heard that from somewhere but don’t know if it’s correct!
I was in the same situation as you prior to starting taking HRT which slowly brought back my sexual response and I thought it was gone completely.... it’s very distressing being in that situation and I hope you can get it sorted x

Kate is on HRT but is unable to use testosterone due to thyroid medication.

Not if you can't actually achieve orgasm no matter how aroused you are  :-\

Thanks Taz x and you’re correct when you loose the ability to orgasm no battery or mains powered sex aid will work :'(

7Dwarfs... I am on HRT (Kliovance) but any testosterone would interact with my thyroid medication, apparently. I have no problem with wanting sex or dryness it’s that I can’t seem to climax ... My GP has suggested I try Viagra to assist in getting blood to my nether regions !! I’m not convinced and unsure where to get it from to try !!!

There is a female Viagra which received mixed results. It is not supposed to help with climax but to increase blood flow the same as in men from what I've read. If you have no problems with arousal then it seems it won't be of much help. Google Viagra for women for more info. It would be great if it does work though.
