I’ve been on the oestrogen only patches for about a week and the nausea is horrendous! Is this normal and is the gel any better for side effects ?

Hi,
I've been on my oestrogen only patch 3 days now, no nausea but increased anxiety ( but think it's in my mind because I've changed regime..)

I don’t know about gel, but I felt queasy for a week or so when I first started HRT. Nothing since- it just want away so I really hope yours dies too.

Thank you . So do I :-)

Even low dose patches made me speedy and jittery, with really bad acid reflux.
Gel just seems to cause acid reflux. No idea why the delivery system makes so much difference, unless absorption is higher with the patches. I'm on 3-4 pumps gel but Evorel 50 seemed really extreme but it's allegedly equivalent of 2 pumps of gel.

What strength patch are you on? You could cut it in half to reduce the dose then build it bacj up.

It’s not very exact as we are all different. Gel and patch estrogen might be absorbed better or worse. I think you need to go with your symptoms and see what works. Maybe stick with the patch for a couple of weeks and see if it settles? If it doesn’t then as Sheila says, just cut bits off and try again.
Sparkler.
