Title: Oestrogel, Oestrodose users ?.
Post by: lillith112 on July 14, 2020, 08:40:22 AM
I don't appear to absorb the gel, I have another 10 days to go before I can ask GP for patches as they suited me great but due to shortages had to change to gel, so over 2 months my peri meno symptoms have all returned.
What I wondered is how do you apply it, do you have to wash the area first ?, I've heard some just smear it on and let it absorb, others rub it in ?.I've tried both ways with no difference.

Roll on going back to patches lol  ;)

Hi Lillith,
I wash my hands but not the area. I use 2 pumps and smear the gel on both my inner thighs, without rubbing in. I then let it air dry before I get into bed.
Hope this helps x

Hi

It maybe that you require a higher dose in the gel to patches. Why not try increasing it first before changing back to patches.  I find an increase is usually noticeable within a few days. What dose are you on? I’m on 4 pumps which is equivalent to about 100 in patches I think.

Let’s me know how you get on

Hi Ann, I've increased to 3 pumps the last week or so. I've finished my 12 days using utrogestan and again just have a tiny bit of spotting, not even enough to get on a pad, not a proper bleed like on the patches. I don't think I'm absorbing the gel at all 😢.

I don't really want to increase the dose anymore as my Dr will only prescribe one pump pack a time and that would mean I'd be putting a prescription in literally every 2 weeks.
