Morning ladies. Since lockdown, I've dusted off my bike and started cycling again after many years. My problem is the discomfort I'm experiencing down below :o I've bought a padded seat cover which has made no difference at all and I'm currently awaiting delivery of some padded pants but was wondering if any cyclists out there had some hints or tips on anything I can do/use to help with the discomfort. I was really sore when I returned home yesterday and it's put me right off getting back on the bike so need to try to find a solution.
Thanks.

Get fitted for the correct sized saddle, also, make sure that your leg length is correct for the bike. ? Off to Halfords for advice ?
DH finds the padded pants really useful as do pro cyclists. You need several pairs in order to keep them laundered, I do his in a cool wash and drip dry.

Do you have VA? Are you using local oestrogen?

Oh god, Rosie, well done you! :medal:
I'm sure you'll sort it out, but don't let it beat you, there must be a solution.
I havnt rode a bike in donkeys years, I'd probably wrap myself around the nearest lamppost. :stretcher:

Thanks JD. I did fall off the first time I rode it. Luckily we were just over the park for a practice but I was going too slow and fell in the bushes 😂😂

Hi Rosie. Are you on any HRT to help ease the VA?
Taz x :)

:o. did U look round to see who was watching ? ;-)

Hi Taz. Yes, I'm on Femoston but haven't suffered with VA. I only feel sore when I've been on the bike ☹️ I'm hoping the padded pants will do the trick :)
Luckily there weren't many people around CLKD. I'm not sure I would have noticed anyway because I was too busy laughing at myself 😂

;D
Years ago we would go cycling immediately after breakfast. Not the best idea as within 20 mins. I would faint :o. Cars would drive by and not offer to help :-\. I recovered and carried on but we stopped having breakfast but would carry food with us.

Rosie I brought a gel cover for my saddle it hasn't helped but mine was for general comfort, let us know how you get on with the padded pants!

Did the pants arrive?

Rosie63, I wear the padded pants, def make a difference. You will probably by achy down below for a few days after being out (I usually am if I haven't been cycling for a while) doesn't last though. Just make sure you take opportunities while your out to take pressure off/reposition yourself, if your going over bumps etc lift yourself of the saddle to go over makes it less uncomfortable and tolerable. Enjoy the cycling, we were out today!! x

Hi ladies. So my padded pants arrived eventually and I took them for a test drive today. I’m pleased to say they made for a much more comfortable experience, thank goodness. I was a little achey down below when I got home but that has already gone off. They are more padded around the buttock area than actually underneath but I managed to position myself so that there was more pressure at the back of the saddle. All in all I think they were a good buy 😊
I wish my hrt issues were as easy to resolve 😉

The World's your oyster [what ever that means :D]

Apparently, the discomfort comes from hair being pulled out! So, you either go through the discomfort until this takes place naturally, or go and buy some Veet ;D

Hi , I had this problem. Dusted off my bike and rode up the road and ended up having to seek help from the GP. My son sourced a Spongy Wonder seat, which has two small spongy bits to balance my bottom, but no forward bit to argue with my delicate bits! The seat was was made in Canada and not cheap, though my lovely son bought for me. Worth looking into, though not cheap. The seat was originally designed for men to protect their wedding tackle! ::)

Also have a look-see at the pro-womens' cycling teams to see what they ride on.

Thanks for further suggestions ladies 👍😊 x
