If the constantly changing oestrogen levels are the root of the problem in perimenopause why isn't the contraceptive pill used to switch it all off. Could someone explain the reasons why HRT over CP please? I am considering HRT but I want to understand the benefit of HRT over CP. I understand that the body identical hormones in HRT are preferable over those in CP but I want to understand the technical reasons. I have taken CP in the past and was fairly comfortable with it so maybe I am trying to extend my comfort zone to HRT. Are the hormone levels in CP much higher than HRT?
