Post by: Lisa J T on June 10, 2020, 04:31:32 PM
Does anyone else feel like they are going crazy? I dont feel like me no more... keep avoiding speaking to my friends and family and not even been going on social media.
I am 36 and had a Hysterectomy in January so this is all new to me.Ive never suffered with depression or anything before and I now feel like I have everything wrong with me!! I dont know if I am just being dramatic lol
Thank you
Lisa

HI! 36 is young.  What advice did you get prior to surgery?  Much?

The daisy web-site will give information too.  I believe that one has to pay ........

Have you been offered any HRT?

As oestrogen levels drop off the body may become dry: inside and out; nostrils, deep in the ears, eyes, skin, vagina ....... my insteps itch in the evenings as well as deep in the ears.  Also, muscles may become lax = aches and pains.

Some find keeping a mood/symptom/food diary useful.  Your body is in shock .

Hello, thanks for your reply.
Not much info at all.... they gave me an injection in November to bring on menopause but didnt explain what to expect and then I had the op. I was on tablets but didnr get on well with them and as from yesterday I got patches. If you asked me a year ago what menopause was I would of just said hot flushes... but how wrong was I. I'm struggling with the physical side, no sleep and aches and the hot and cold flushes but the mental side is so much worse... I honestly dont know how to feel. I've not spoken to any family or friends for a few days as I just dont want to and that's so unlike me..... I kinda just need some reassuring that I'm not going to be like this forever

Hi Lisa.J T

I'm so sorry your feeling like this. Can't offer much help other than to say, No, your not going mad, even though it feels like it, there's an awful lot of us on here who have felt the same, and still are, hopefully, you?ll get on well with the patches, but don't expect results right away, but hopefully they?ll kick in quickly and make you feel better.
I think most of us thought the same as you, meno is JUST hot flushes, 🙀 how wrong were we? .😡 but we?re here for you if you need us, also, maybe you should talk to your family and friends, 🤷‍♀️ They may provide you with some much needed support at this horrible time.
Hang on in there, don't forget we?re here to help if we can. Keep posting, and let us know how your getting on. IT WILL GET BETTER.

Jd xx

Hello, thank you it means a lot... I find it easier to speak on here about how I feel rather than people I am close to... think I'm more worried about upsetting them.
It's really hard to explain how I feel when I have no idea lol. How can I feel low when I have nothing to feel low about!?! I know i havent been feeling like this for long so feel bit stupid as i know people feel like this for a lot longer and get on with it.
Is the confusion normal?? I forget the simplest things! Also i feel like i cant breath like something is in my chest??? Sorry..... I'm just trying to get my head around what is normal
Xx

Oh yes, your symptoms are all very familiar. What hrt are you on and what dose? You need to increase the oestrogen until your symptoms are under control. My anxiety and insomnia took 3 months to go, I think they need a build up of oestrogen. As you're so young for meno you need it to protect your bones and heart too. If your gp isn't knowledgeable enough or you need testosterone you can ask for a referral to a menopause clinic.

So when I had my phone consultation with my surgeon I was only having mild symptoms so she wrote to my dr to put me on a low dose.... I only managed to speak to my Dr this week as I have been so so busy at work and by this time I had so many new symptoms so they put me on Estradot 50 micro and said will review it in 3 months and will up it if need to.
I have never been the best sleeper anyway but now it's like I am too tired to sleep.
Did you notice weight gain quickly too? My weight is very up and down anyway but I've barely eaten for a week and I would normally notice weight loss quickly but my belly seems even bigger. I am really feeling sorry for myself ain't I lol

Hi.
Yes, the breathing thing could be anxiety. When I was at my worst, it seemed like I couldn't take a deep breath in, almost like I'd acquired asthma or something. Which I've never had my whole life, but now realise it was anxiety.
You will feel low until your levels get back up, it's the lack of them that's making you feel like it. Just keep telling yourself that, it's hormones, nothing more!
The forgetfulness, and confusion is normal too, I couldn't focus on much and everything was too much for me, as for the weight gain, I think I've gained a few pounds all in all, but when we've been through what we've been through, it seems the last thing to worry about, you can always try and sort that out when you feeling better. Try and eat sensible, not eating properly makes anxiety worse, I've found that out.
There's no need to feel stupid either, no way should you, please don't. There's nothing stupid about how these pesky hormones makes us feel. it's horrendous!
Stick the patch on, and see how you go. Good luck.
Keep posting and asking questions, no one judges on here, we?re all here to help if we can.

Is it weight gain or middle aged spread?  My apron flopped a few years ago, when standing or laying flat I have no belly - but sitting or slumping  :o lack of oestrogen = laxity of muscles  ::)

Eating every 3 hours, even through the night of you wake, can help anxiety.  Yoga.  Brisk walking.  Medication.

Nowt is taboo on here ;-)

lisa j t

like your self i had hysterectomy and ovaries removed at 35

i didn't have hrt for 4 yrs as i was lucky no immediate symtoms
however summer of 2018 i crashed but funny enough only had vaginal issues with watery discharge urine leakage possible but not sure
i was given a patch 50 mg of elleste solo and it didn't suit me i felt awful palpitations breathlessness and full of aniexty i stopped them after 6 weeks i was then put on the gel and was fine on 1 pump but upped to 2 to protect my bones as 1 pump dosent but i spent a whole year at rock bottom i was crazy mood up and down all the time didn't want my partner near me touching me i really felt awful hairloss shedding loads lost 50 percent aniexty depression so dec last year after a year on it i stopped i did 9 weeks hair shedding stopped and i felt like me again well like me before i started hrt but lack of sleep hit me couple flushes nothing major and more dryness down below so now i take progesterone with the gel but again had side effects 2 pumps and 100 utro got watery discharge sore scalp and 2.5 pumps i?m bloated more hungry sore boobs more hair shedding but watery discharge better but have now started getting flushes at night and increased armpit groin sweating ! and i?m loosing a lot more hair at temples and forehead so not sure if the progesterone acting like tester one in my body , i did take tesosterone couple days but noticed then this sweating so stopped it to rule it out but it is increasing my estrogen that's causing it so i shall be contacting my gp monday i've had enough
i?m thinking of given it up i've lost my partner job all over this health aniexty i have my mental health with loosing my hair all since started hrt wish i had never bothered
i?m 41 next week but i managed off hrt for 4 yrs at the worst of my symtoms because although i had flushes i didn't care got on with it part of me feels lost on hrt i?m not myself i?m better on the combined then estrogen alone but think i?ll have to reduce the estrogen or at least have blood test to find out what's going on with hormone levels but my advice is don't always think you need more estrogen because that's what i was told and can't tolerate it i feel worse and i know my aniexty worse because i get tightness in my throat like i have a hand round it x

SammieJane,
That all sounds so awful!!! You need to call your dr ASAP.... maybe try do it all with HRT.
I feel I need something to bring my levels up as I feel so low.... and it has to be with my levels.
Had patches since Tuesday and on some menopause vitamins I picked up myself... thought I had started to pick up a bit but this morning I feel awful!!!
You must go to the dr as you cant keep feeling like this and HRT is meant to help!! This all sucks :'(

Hormones fluctuate 24/7 which is why my Gynae won't do blood tests but treats on symptoms.  It will be a while B4 the body accepts the increase so when you feel bad, breath; rest; don't plan too far ahead; keep hydrated and eat little and often.

Today is a bad day!!! Feel like I cant breath and really trying to fight back the tears as I promised the kids o would take them to see my mum today.... and I know if I start crying I wont stop.
The last 2 days I felt a bit better and thought I was over the worse of it. So done with feeling like this.

Does anyone know how long it should be til the patches start working?

Anxiety can cause us to not breath properly.

Did U get to see your Mum?  We are so used to being at home that any step into the 'real' world may be difficult.  Tell the kids how you feel!

I went and met my mum and I actually really enjoyed it and the kids loved it. The kids have actually been so Amazing with my outbursts
.. I just feel sad for them having to deal with it.
But it wont be forever... hopefully lol

How old are they, do you mind me asking?   Kids pick up moods from a very early age and if they aren't aware, they may be scared.  Openess helps and if they are old enough, delegate chores? ;-)

My eldest is 17 so she knows every thing and my youngest will be 10 next month... so luckily both old enough to understand and they have just been so understanding... even when I'm having one of my strops lol....
I just dont want this to become the new normal in our house...

They mutter a buzz word as they leave the room when you are OTT ;-).  Such as "Muuuummm " or something humorous that won't develop into an argument.

No hurt feelings.  Everyone is aware that Mum's stressed ............  ;)

hi lisa jt

how are you feeling now ?

i've dropped my estrogen back to 2 pumps and progesterone alternate days bloating isn't as bad and my boobs aren't as heavy so shall have to see if aniexty isn't worse and hair shedding reduces and  the watery discharge dosent come back .

to early to tell if not then 2.5 pumps it is with 100 mg and will have to put up with bloating etc or stop again for a while and try something else such a mine field i?m exhausted with it all , keep me posted how u go xx

how long have you been on estrogen and have you had ovaries removed too?
which patch and dose are you on ?

much love xx

Hello, yeah I am OK.... just don't like my body at all... my brests have been so sore the last 2 days as well. Yes a full hysterectomy. I started the patches about 6 weeks ago i think.... I'm wondering if after 3 months I may need a stronger dose.

What is the pump? I've never heard of that?

Do you know if its normal to feel sick every morning?

hi lisa

yes nausea i have found is side effect of hrt , the pump i use is estrogel and after the break i took of 9 weeks i went on 2 pumps with progesterone although not needed due to hysterectomy but estrogen made me so up and down and my hair was shedding loads it still is now i to have gained weight about a stone ! i lost weight through menopause and my body shape changed to a more toned body abs appearing but now on hrt i have roll of tummy and love handles which disappeared but for me it’s my hairloss that’s the huge impact and this watery discharge . i feel better i think in myself on 2.5 pumps and daily progesterone but started to get very bloated and boobs huge and sweating from armpits that would drip so not good but the watery discharge improved ! i’ve had blood test done so will speak to gp in tuesday x i think the hrt well estrogen is causing my hairloss i had no issues prior thinned a bit temples and forehead but this now is all over nape of neck nearly bold fringe area very thin and when i was can kind of feel my scalp x but it like if i change to patch infact the one you are on estradot hairloss will still happen i guess as all estradiol ? have you had hair shedding ! x is strange cause was fine on the combined pill except headaches  x

So before my op they gave me an injection to  bring on menopause and put me on HRT and my hair was falling out but since op and being on the patches it has calmed right Down.
Whats the watery discharge? I've not had any issues down there...
Omg the worst things for me that is not physical is that I
I am wondering if I will need stronger patches as I still have really bad sweats

The discharge could be normal secretions or the start of vaginal atrophy  ::)

I am feeling this way today feeling like I’ve lost me, unattractive and old. Lack of motivation prevents me from doing all the little things I used to nails 💅 fake tan eyebrows etc just feel like I’ve lost interest in myself.  Have been on patches nearly 2 months defo feeling better but hoping for more improvement as time goes on. I was much worse without HRT. It’s time to work on getting back to me tho I went and took covid for 2nd time which has made my mood crash! 👎 but I will get there a bit of sunshine ☀️ and summer ahead also sure to help! Keep strong!
